I went to Paul Conte Chevy in Freeport, NY to purchase a 2015 Chevy Silverado. I test drove the truck and was very impressed with the vehicle. I sat with the salesperson after the test drive and negotiated a price and delivery terms.I left a deposit and signed a contract for the purchase of the vehicle I had just test drove. I received a phone call 20 hours prior to my scheduled appointment to pick up my new truck and was told they sold it to someone else. They told me a person had left a deposit before me and they had to sell him the vehicle. I don't know how you can have a signed contract by the sales manager and then sell the vehicle to someone else. Im sure they sold it to the another person for a bigger profit and just disregarded my contract. Be very careful of these unethical and deceptive liars.

Jim gets the wrong end of the stick again and again and again and again.....

AUTHOR: Bubba Lee - (Canada)

So Jim, where in this whole report did you think berating an unhappy customer, who felt they had done the correct thing and walked away, was good idea?

Nope WRONG again.

It sounds to me the Dealership screwed up, tried to make it right and could not make the OP happy. These things happen even at `Good` Reputable Dealers. Add a couple salesmen willing to play the odds on accepting deposits like this Dealer has, and the OP Feels Betrayed.

By the way Jim, all dealers play the “FEE Game”

They have to, Customers come into a Dealer looking only at Price. So you have to quote competitive with the other GM dealer down the Street and get your margin just like the GM Dealer down the street.

If you don't you aren't in business long.

Facts of life Jim.

Another Lie by Paul Conte Chevrolet

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, November 23, 2015

I was never offered any other vehicle. I was told the other buyer was not a firm deal and they are selling me the truck. I have a signed contract by your sales manager with the vin # of the vehicle I was buying. Your sales manager wanted me to take that vehicle home right away. Stop the lies and deceptive sales. There is no excuse to breach a signed contract.

Second Deposit

AUTHOR: Phil - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, November 23, 2015

Dear Tom,

I'm so sorry the customer who left the first deposit on this truck ended up buying the truck, negating your purchase. I spoke to your salesperson and the sales manager who was on duty the day you signed the contract and both relayed to me that they told you your deposit was a second deposit. We apologize for this frustrating experience. I understand we offered you another truck with the same equipment and another truck with more options for the same price, but you refused. The decision to sell the truck to the first buyer was not based on profit. It was based on our commitment to the first buyer. We wish you only the best.

Sincerely,

Also BOGUS Fees!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, November 21, 2015

You were given a blessing.  If you look at their website, you will see they freely admit what they are all about by their playing of the ADD-ON, BOGUS, PHONEY FEE con-game.  This mainstay of the Sleazy American Car Business works like this:  First, they think you are too stupid to figure it out!  They advertise and represent the price of the car to be "X" dollars.  However...its a LIE.  They load up the deal with these BOGUS fees which are payable to THEM.  As such, the "price" they represented the car to sell for is purely a DECEPTION since the dealer gets these PHONEY FEES also!  In order to aide in their DECEPTION and FRAUD, they give these PHONEY FEES some official sounding name, again, because they think you are just far too stupid and dumb to see thru their con-game.  Slimeballs in the Sleazy American Car Business defend this DECEPTION by saying, "we make full disclosure of all fees".  When the guy with the gun enters the convienience store at 2 A. M., he has made full disclosure of his intent also!  The slime also will say, "these fees are for pre-delivery services".  These pre-delivery services are ALREADY PAID to them as evidenced by the manufacturer's window sticker usually called "destination fee".  When you buy the car, that amount is included in the price to the manufacturer and in this case with a new car, the slime at the car dealership are attempting to collect twice for the same service...service they were paid by the manufacturer to perform!

If the car dealer doesn't have the integrity and honesty as evidenced by this PHONEY FEE con-game or use of SUCKER STICKERS, you don't need them!  They did you quite a favor!
