I signed up for Plenty of Fish online matchmaking service on a trial basis through Paypal. When they made their first full-price deduction 2 months ago I called and told them to cancel my subscription because nearly ALL of the people I was contacted by on their site were SCAMMERS trying to sweet talk me into sending them money or buying expensive items for them.  That is why I cancelled the subscription to begin with.  During that phone call I was told my cancellation was accepted and I would not be charged again.  I have not visited the site since.

Lo and behold, I notice today they have AGAIN taken a $38.70  payment from my account.  I called the company today and told the woman to give me my money back and the she said "Our memberships are non-refundable." When I told her I had already called 2 months ago and cancelled, she said it was MY fault I was charged again because I did not cancel the payment through Paypal

I did not realize I had to cancel through Paypal - I thought calling a company directly and cancelling my subscription was enough to prevent further charges.  If the subscription needed to be cancelled through Paypal, why wasn't I told that during my conversation with POF 2 months ago when I was assured no further charges would be made???

They said there was "no supervisor" to speak with and they gave me an email address to send my complaint to:

I sent the same complaint I just listed here and this was the response:

"Thanks for the email, and sorry to hear you didn't enjoy being on POF.  Unfortunately, memberships are non-refundable, and as you did not cancel your subscription, it did renew.  However, I can see your subscription has now been cancelled, so you will not be billed again.  As memberships are non-refundable, I am unable to offer a refund to you.

I don't see a record of your email address having contacted us prior to today, or a phone call being received by our call center - however, I can assure you we see that you have successfully cancelled your subscription.   If there is anything I can do to help you enjoy the remaining time on your subscription please let me know.   And if not, I do wish you the very best.     Regards,

Meghan"

So, I am basically being called a LIAR in addition to NOT being given a refund.

These people are CROOKS more interested in taking your money than helping you find a soulmate.
