I recieved the First Premier Credit Card about 3 weeks ago and I received a bill for approx 172.00 in fees. I paid 184.00 to cover all fees and anyonline charges on 3/17/06. It cleared my bank on 3/20/06 with a ref #. I went to purchase 52.00 worth of items today a local home improvement store and was declined and used a ligitimate credit card to pay for this. Problem is online information showed 246.00 available credit as of 3/17/06 on the First premier website (I printed the info so they can't deny this).

I called the "customer service" number. What a joke. The service rep was rude and interuptive and accused me of intterupting her and screaming at her although every time I tried to reason with her she screamed her rant at me. I think they train these guys to upset people and treat them like losers. I was told that my payment could bounce?? (online payment cleared my bank 3/20/06 and it's 3/25/06) an that's why they are on hold until 4/3/2006. Obviously this is a scam cc and a class action needs to happen soon.

I went back to my paper work and found a "possible" 20day wainting period to apply the funds, but the website site terms say nothing about this!!!!my online account info still shows 246.00 available as of 3/17/06. Not true!!I will cancel ASAP!!! They claim to be a bank and that's why the put a hold on your online payments!! This must be the banking policy on MARS! Tony Soprano could have a very lucrative business if he went into this.

response to Adam You are wrong! A 20 day hold on an ACh is ridiculous. If the payment is going to bounce it will done by the 5th business day

AUTHOR: R D - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 19, 2006

What you are saying is complete BS. First Premier is simply delusional or paranoid. Have you ever heard of the Check 21 law? YOu are wrong about being able to stop payment on a check for up top 20 days. I asked my banker about this and they laughed so hard i thought they were going to pass out.But they explained it to me this way.

Once the check, ACH or funds have cleared the Federal reserve it is impossible to stop payment on it. A stop pay can only be done at a time when the issuing bank has not actually paid the check or exchanged it with the Fed. The time frame is only a few days at the most. Check 21 speeds up this time and takes away the float we used to have thus allowing banks to charge more NSF fees.

A 20 day hold on an ACh is ridiculous. If the payment is going to bounce it will done by the 5th business day and the receiving bank would then be notified.

SO First Premier is not telling the truth about this. A supervisor told me this was the banks policy because they had alot of forged checks and money orders and people using fraudulent accounts online.

I find this hard to believe and I think the $7 fee to pay online is extortion. These people hide behind a shady disclosure and a binding arbitration agrement that makes it almost impossible to sue them.

Similar situation - account placed on HOLD

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 31, 2006

I had a similar situation happen with Premier de-activating my card...

I had just gotten the card in late February 2006, and I wanted to pay off the activation and annual fees that are automatically charged on there when the account is first opened. I go online and make a payment using the online autopay ($7 charge- ripoff) for the balance showing on 3/9. I go on there the next day to see if the payment was received and noticed additional fees for whatever reason. I go ahead and pay that, using the online autopay again on 3/10.

I think it was a week later, I tried to use my card at a gas station (since I thought I had paid my account in full), only to find out that they placed my account on HOLD! I called them back to find out the problem. They told me that I overpaid the account, and they had to place it on hold due to possible fraud. LOL. Possible fraud? I wish other consumers wanted to pay my accounts in full. I explained to them that I paid what was showing online, and they said that it was an overpayment because the balance was under the amount of what I paid. I explained to them AGAIN that I only paid the amounts that SHOWED on my online statement. I told them I have never experienced anything like this before with any other cards.

Anyhow, to end a long rebuttal, it took me several calls to get this resolved. They finally took the hold off my account yesterday (3/30), but the funny thing is, they didn't have a problem accepting either one of my payments on 3/9 or 3/10.

I'll continue to keep the card only to rebuild my credit, and make sure I don't accidentally "overpay" the balance... LOL.

#5 UPDATE Employee

its actually quite common

the reason i hold was placed on your funds was so that they can be verified what that means is that if you send someone funds or write a check out of a personal checking acct the check could bounce up to 20 days after it goes through your bank for any of a # of reasons. not the least of which you could go down to your bank and simply put a stop payment on the check. but i could also be for NSF and a # of others. so yes from time to time a hold might be placed on your fund until they are verifed which basically means they can no long be returned thats a matter of bank security. not act like everysingle person which a checking acct is a honest as a saint. because some people abuse them everyone has to put up with things like payments holds. if you want to get around it though its very easy just do a Western Union which cant have a payment hold or do a bank wire but Western Union is cheaper so you would probably what to go that route. or you could close your card after paying the startup fees but never getting to use the card to improve your creidt that would probably be the worse idea you could do.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

GET RID OF THE CARD AND WARN OTHERS!

AUTHOR: Jade - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 27, 2006

That security hold crap is BULL! They know good and well when you pay that little fee ($7 I think) to get it auto-drafted from your account, they get the money right away, yet they still put that hold and it's ridiculous. There's no reason for it because if they really couldn't get the money, all they would do is slap you with huge fees and get it back 10 fold. Gimme a break. Best bet is to warn everyone u see not to get this card like I do.
