I wouldn't normally do this, but I'm hoping that others won't loose as much time and money as I have on a non-functioning business like Prime Home Entertainment.  I was told the pay rate would be $85/$25 and that service calls would pay $40.  I moved over 500 miles based on this (and other) information which turned out to be blatantly false. Upon arrival I found the pay was actually $70/$20, and service calls paid $35.  Strike 1.

Prime Home Entertainment then over the course of the next two months implemented so many charge back policies that I dread describing them all to you.  First, they announced two weeks in advance, that starting April 15th, they would be charging back technicians for trouble calls (TCs) that other techs had to roll on.  April 7th rolls around, the chargebacks are implemented RETROACTIVELY SIX WEEKS INTO THE PAST.  There were about 12 technicians working at Prime Home at that time, and five of them quit on the spot.  Many of them got $200-$400 taken out of their checks with NO WARNING.  Strike 2.

I wasn't one of them, since I just started, I figured I'd give it a chance... big mistake.  Second round of chargebacks involved moving the chargeback from $35 to $75 for TCs that other techs performed on Dish Movers and New Connects.  Again, this was implemented retroactively with no warning.  Strike 3.

Third round of escalating chargebacks was charging back technicians AUTOMATICALLY for all trouble calls generated within 60 days, REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSE.  You read that right.  If the customer called in because they dropped their remote down the toilet, Prime Home Entertainment took away every penny the technician was paid on the initial job.  Strike 4.

It gets better.  Then Prime Home decided that they were not making enough money, to many techs were quitting and upset, and the quality of work was suffering.  So what do they do?  Hire a Quality Control salaried guy to IMPLEMENT MORE CHARGEBACKS!  The QC guy would check for phone connectivity, and if they felt you failed to run a phone or ethernet line for free for a customer who had phone or internet service, PHE would charge back the tech $35!  Strike 5.

Then PHE decides that if you fail a QC for anything else, it would also be a $35 charge back.  And if the QC guy took longer than an hour to fix your job, it would be $35 PLUS $45 PER HOUR AS LONG AS IT TOOK THE QC GUY TO FIX THE JOB. Strike 678,435.  This is beyond insanity.  The only guys working there now are either employees or subcontractors with NO EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER.  I promise you, every single subcontractor will quit within two months of working with Prime Home Entertainment.  As long as Prime Home is in business, it will be a TOXIC WORK PLACE with a revolving door of contractors.  But, as I hear it, PHE may be shutting their doors soon, at least in Nashville.  Last techs to receive a check were told not to cash it until Monday...  Bad sign guys.  Real bad.  Run fast and run hard from PHE.  I do have to mention Kevin, he's one good thing about working at Prime Home.  Unfortunately, he's just a low level manager and has no real power.

Oh yeah, and they finally brought out a 'contract' for the subcontractors to sign.  It read in part, and I quote: "During the period hereof, the Subcontractor shall assist the Contractor and shall perform any and all services required or requested in connection with the Contractor's business."  You have got to be absolutely brain dead to sign something like that.  It's basically a contract to be an employee.  It's just a matter of time before someone from the IRS decides that Prime Home should have been paying all these guys overtime, workman's comp, sick leave, unemployment...

A post like this may get me blacklisted with Dish Network, or a bad reputation among the fulfillment contractors out there.  So be it.  It sounds like some other fulfillment outfits out there operate the same way.  Other subcontractors have to know.  And I'm permanently swearing off fulfillment work.
