I must have 'SUCKER' written across my forehead because this isn't the first time I've fallen short of a scam like this!

I was walking through a mall in Houston, Texas when a young man came up to me and said he was at college. He said his name was Matt Rowley (he smelt like cigarettes). He said that for his course, they had an assignment to do public speaking and that he had a set quota of people he had to practise public speaking with.

He proceded to ask a bunch of (not too intrusive questions) set up as a kind of survey. He then said, look I'm going to cut to the chase, I am selling something. I'm part of a competition whereby, we sell magazines which get sent to the military, schools or hospitals. I'm entered to win money for my college degree and also get a chance to win a holiday.

I asked him, "how do I know this is legitimate? I've been scammed like this before". He showed me all sorts of ids, and formal documentation and said his company encourages the consumers to call up the toll free number and check on the status of the magazines.

He said it was a dollar per issue, and they send out 48. All the while little alarm bells are ringing distantly in the back of my head, but i ignore them because i can't help but be nice to people.

When I proceded to pull out my check book, he asked if there was anyway I could pay some in cash because it takes a while for the check to clear. I should have backed out at this point, but foolish me did what he asked and gave him $5 cash.

The cost ended up at $63 (process and handling at $15).

I researched the company online. There isn't much information on it. One website said there were 14 employees and their average yearly income is 750,000. There is no physical address for the company just a P.O box. All of this has SCAM written all over it.

Even if it wasn't a scam (which it was), I should mean up a bit and say "NO!" straight away because i hate that people approach you for money like that. Always say no to these people!!! What legitimate company would do sales this way anyway?

Foolish, foolish, foolish me.

Don't Feel Too Foolish

AUTHOR: laura.sandifer - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 29, 2012

I used to work for this company (and I dated Matt as well) over a year and a half ago when it was called Unique Subscription Agency (USA).  I was 20 and desperate to get out of town because my life was falling apart and this seemed like the only way to get a new start.  I joined them April 2010 and left July 2010, which is the typical turn around for their company.  By the time I had left, none of the "original" employees were still with the company other than Matt (who is a general manager) and the owner and his girlfriend.

Matt is actually 31 years old and has a baby (the mother and him have differences, and she is not involved with the company whatsoever.  The cell phone plan the company was on was actually under her name and they screwed her over by not paying the bills.)

We were trained to scam people into thinking we were earning money for college.  While we did get $1000 if we reached 20,000 points, it was IMPOSSIBLE.

I guess the only positive working for this company was that I got over my fear of speaking with strangers, and I learned how to sell (which helps in my retail job that I have now.)  And believe me or not, I was one of the honest employees.

Prime Time Consulting Inc - a Rip-Off Scam

AUTHOR: Etc - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, January 09, 2012

In response to the person that was ripped off by Prime Time Consulting Inc, don't feel too bad.  I really feel like an idiot for falling to their scam. These punks (2 clean cut looking young college age) were approaching shoppers at Wal-mart  with the same sceniro as you described.  One was a fast talker and the other guy just agreed to everything his buddy was saying.  They also said that is tax deductible and I will receive something in the mail as proof other than the receipt they had given. To this date, no letter received.
Get this, I told these punks that I was unemployed and had no money and they would not shut up and go away. They kept using their charm and saying thinks like, you look like such a nice lady, I can sense what a kind person you are.

Half the stuff this fast talker was saying I could not hear or understand him. Before I knew it, I was digging in my wallet for the cash I was suppose to use to buy a few groceries. They took all my cash of $45.00 and even said there was an ATM at the front of the store.  I told him I had no cash in my account so that was not an option.

I felt like such an idiot when I left Wal-mart and have since left a message for a return phone call from this scam of a company, Prime Time Consulting, Inc. The receipt I was given from these punks has the following information:  Prime Time Consulting, Inc, Clearing Business Through Marquis Fulfillment Agency, LLC, POBox 2243, Buford, GA 30515. Customer Service: 770-831-7722. Email: customerservice@azuredp.com
If you google www.azuredp.com, that domain is parked, no website.

So, if any of you are ever approached by someone who claims it helps them with college points or whatever they want to call it and that the magazine will go to a soldier overseas, walk away and contact the authorities immediately. Don't let them get away with this. They need to be apprehended and dealt with according to the law. These punks and who ever formed this scam of a company have commited fraud and will take your money and run.
