After working for Professional Fitness as a trainer for 6 weeks I had not received a paycheck. To make a long story short I was fired for confronting so called part owner of this company concernning this. After more than 6 weeks I receive a paycheck for the first 2 weeks I worked (of course it was for less than it was suppose to be),I deposit this check in my checking account to find out after writing a rent check out that Professional Fitness puts a stop on the pay check they gave me. Mind you they still owe me for 4 additional weeks of pay.

I eventually get my pay checks minus about $500 of what they actually owe me. Their pay system is this: On the 16th of the month you submitt your hours for hours worked the 1st-15th and you are "SUPPOSE TO" recieve a check on the 1st OF THE FOLLOWING month. Totally illegal!!

Professional Fitness has indfected hiundreds of gyms throughout the country and have a couple thousand employees, so what these guys do every couple of years when they file bankrupcy and change their name (AKA Beyond Fitness), is they make millions of dollars by not only the contracts they owe clients but by not paying the 6 weeks worth of pay they owe their employees. In there handbook they give employees they even state "We were previously known as Beyond Fitness but TO SUIT OUR COMPANY'S NEEDS WE CHANGED OUR NAME TO PROFESSIONAL FITNESS" Even a 6th grader can interrpert that statement.

These guy steal from everyone, clients and employees. Please can you say class action lawsuit someone? The way they get themselves set up in these gyms is they trick the gym owners into signing rediculous contracts (18 years, yes you read that right). I know for a fact some of these gym owners are trying to find a way out of their contract because everyone that comes in cointact with this training company hates them.

Oh yeh and if you are still thinking of working for them dont sign the NO Compete Clause. It states if and when you quit working for them or if they fire you for any or no reason you can not work as a personal trainer or at any gym within 20 miles of where they do bussiness. Which pretty much covers the whole country. I have to hand it to Professional Fitness, if OJ had their lawyers that draw up their contracts he probably would had got a not guilty on his last case.

Hi. The "part owner" I assume you're referring to has to be either Colt Stevens since he's the Regional Vice President of the Boston market or Sam Brake since he's Regional VP of South Carolina but is over Colt. I know Tareq isn't over Norwood and Caleb Allen was relocated to Connecticut, so that leaves Colt because Adam Arnett was only a manager and he was fired for not going in when there was 5 ft. of snow.

Pay Period:
Yes, they pay 2 pay periods behind so any hours worked January 1-15th won't be paid until February 1st, and any hours worked January 16th-31st won't be paid until February 16th. Sadly, they don't explain that very well upon hiring people in the field or at corporate--and trainers have it worse because managers are trained to sell trainers on the idea of how quickly they can make money and advance through the company. They've been paying that way for a very long time and they're always able to find new trainers, so they won't change that method anytime soon.

Paycheck:
Any clients you signed up, those contracts are shipped to the corporate office at 7340 Six Forks Rd, Suite 200, Raleigh, NC 27615 to the "Production" department. The reduction in your paycheck was possibly because anything not properly filled out on the contract results in a deduction taken out of your paycheck. For example, if you sign someone up and their credit card declines or their check bounces, you don't get paid commissions. If you sign someone up and you don't run the card at the gym so the corporate office has to process the down payment, then you don't get paid commissions. You could call the head of Production, Maysoon, at 919-818-5435, but she probably won't answer your call and if she does she isn't going to call you back. Advice: Don't cause a scene at the gym because they'll have a restraining order filed banning you from having any contact with them and banning you from the gym location altogether. You'll have to keep following up on your missing pay.

Name Change:
Professional Fitness is the DBA name (Doing Business As name), and it's really a bunch of business names operating out of 1 corporate office. That's why some clients and employees know it as BF Central/BF Southeast/BF Florida and so on. It did used to be known as Beyond Fitness Personal Training. Yes, there were legal issues that occurred and one of the co-owners (Steve Dow) was booted and the remaining owners (Ted Sampson, Dan Fahey, Scott Higginbotham, and Nathan Litten) changed the name to "Lumous Holdings,LLC" doing business as "Professional Fitness." All of the other business names are founded under the Lumous Holdings name because that's the primary business name.

Unfortunately, you will never speak to Ted because even most of the managers have never seen him and only a select few have ever seen Dan (Chief of Operations) or Scott (919-271-3782). Some have encountered Nathan. Sam (919-818-7261) owns a small bit so he's not going to assist you nor will Colt (919-818-5141) because you don't work for the company anymore. If you still did and were a top seller, then they'd go out of their way to help you. Additionally, they're close to changing their name again for the same reason and have temporarily began opening locations under a different name altogether such as "Atlantic Coast ABS."

Non-Compete Clause:
You're right, no one should sign it regardless of the state you're in. Advice: Call your clients to let them know why you're no longer with the company before anyone at Pro Fit can defame your name and character. DON'T tell the clients if you're going to work at another gym club because they'll mistakenly tell someone at Pro Fit and then they'll have evidence you're violating that non-compete clause you signed when really you're just trying to find employment. IF you can, find a gym location outside of the 20 miles and work there but since you're in Boston you might want to avoid all Workout World locations and any Gold's Gym locations.

Gym:
Yes, some of the gyms are attempting to get out of their contract with Pro Fit because the lack of customer service is destroying the reputation of the gym itself. Some have successfully kicked Pro Fit out of their location because they received enough client complaints as proof of it destroying their business that it violated the contract between Pro Fit and the gym. Some of the gyms have opted to completely take over the Pro Fit trainers and customer service to salvage their reputation (such as Gold's Gym Utah) while others such as Mieko's Fitness in Washington are close to terminating the contract altogether.

Additional Advice:
For your W-2 make sure you send them a letter with your mailing address. If need be, pay the extra money to send it through UPS or FedEx so you have a mail delivery receipt, and send it to their corporate office's physical address at:

7340 Six Forks Road
Suite 200
Raleigh, NC 27615

This is highly important because they mail W-2s and they don't confirm your mailing address prior to mailing them, so many peoples' W-2s get lost in the mail. This wouldn't be a bad thing, but their Payroll Dept. (the 2 people running Human Resources) is under the management of Maysoon, and all 3 of them are told to charge $25 to re-print a W-2. The only other alternative is to hold onto your last pay stub (whenever you receive it).
