I think Rent A Center puts their employees through Harrassment training. They harrassed me for weeks when I could not make one payment on time, telling me to let them in to get their stuff. You have to stand up to them, plain and simple. They said we are coming to get the stuff, I said go ahead, but you will be wasting your time, because I am NOT letting you into my home, they said we will file in court, I said go ahead, the payment will be caught up by the time you get all the paperwork filled out. I was almost paid up and I wasn't about to let it go back. They will also tell you that you need to re-sign a new contract, well IF you have your things in your possession, never do that!

Rent A Center will also settle your account with you. I settled for almost 800$ less than what I owed. Why? Because I wouldn't take their harrassment! DON'T LET THEM IN--DON'T HAND THEM OVER THE MERCHANDISE if you are only going to be late a week or so. They make money because they scare people and people do it, hand the stuff over.

They prey in you because you let them. They were sweating to settle with me so that corporate wold get off their backs. They hate taking people to court, but they will, but as far as being a day late and them tryng to take your stuff. they can wait until up to 2weeks if you can deal with their crap. Just ignore the harrassment, don't hand over the stuff or let them in your home, make your payment when you have the money or call and ask them to settle on an amount when you know you have already put into it more than what it is worth. BACKBONE works. Find it! And you will like having the upper hand with these guys!

Wow! Here's a new one, harassment training. I wonder what kind of class or testing that would look like before completing that course? Ha Ha! Sorry, you had me laughing over this one. Attention all rent a center employees, you must complete your harassment training before you go on the job. LOL!! I am crying so hard because that is toooo funny!

Anyway, no it's not RAC's goal to go and harass others. But one thing you left out while giving other's your so called fool proof suggestion, you failed to add that after "X" amount of days, Rent A Center CAN and WILL close the account and not accept payment anymore if a customer tries to pull your little stunt. Then in turn, if the merchandise is still refused to the store, you can be taken to court. Sometimes it's small claims, other times it could be filed under criminal. Yes, criminal since you are holding merchandise that is NOT yours in the first place. What's involved (but not limited to) the Sheriff's office showing up at your door for a warrent for your arrest, and your merchandise being taken away. If criminal warrent is filed, it just takes a matter of a few hours to complete and not up to 2 weeks.

Apparently your local store has taken it easy on ya and is trying to work with you. Just ignoring the store will not make the problem go away.

Here is the main rule: PAY YOUR ACCOUNT ON TIME, OR RETURN YOUR MERCHANDISE! If you pay your account on time, you'll never hear from the store. Also, RAC has a lifetime reinstatement and will credit your amount paid in the the merchandise on the same item around the same retail value if you have to let your merchandise go back. But just avoiding them and not paying your bill will null and void this for you.

If it seems that you are going to run a little behind, the best way to go about this is to communicate with your local store and set up a commitment time of when you can make it in. The more you work with the store, and the more you show a good pay history, the more the store will assist you and approve you for more items when needed.

I have had a computer from RAC for over 2 years. I say the computer is paid for they say its not because I just recently transfered from another state.... I have had RAC sit outside my house for hours waiting for me to come home.. sat inside my business while I was with customers... I will never do business with them again..

They are threatening me with theft..Corporate wont return my calls... I have paid almost $4000 for this computer..way too much I know. I am not giving it back without a fight...

I agree RAC employees are bullies...I paid the "insurance" they offer when I lost my job, they said they wouldnt cover me... what a scam!!
