I WAS TOLD BY RENT-A-CENTER THAT THEY HAD A WORRY FREE GURANTEE, MEANING THAT IF YOU FOUND THE SAME MERCHANDISE AT ANOTHER RENTAL STORE THAT RENT-A-CENTER WOULD MATCH THE PRICE.

I RENTED A 42" INCH PLASMA LG TELEVISION FROM RENT-A-CENTER (CASH PRICE ABOUT $2,700.00 AND TERM PRICE AROUND $4,400.00.

A NEW RENTAL PLACE CALLED EAGLE RENTAL PURCHASE WAS ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE RENT A CENTER I DELT WITH. I WENT IN EAGLES AND FOUND THE SAME 42" INCH PLASMA LG TV (CASH PRICE $1,699.00 AND TERM PRICE $3,300.00.

I WENT BACK TO THE RENT-A-CENTER AND TALKED TO THE MANGER ABOUT THE WORRY FREE PRICE GUARANTEE. HE HAD ONE OF HIS SALES PEOPLE TREY CALL OVER TO THE EAGLE RENTAL STORE AND CONFIRMED THE PRICE AND THAT IT WAS THE SAME 42" INCH LG PLASMA TV, WHICH IT WAS CONFIRMED BY TREY WHO TOLD ME AND HIS MANAGER. THE STORE MANAGER TOLD ME TO CALL THE DISTRICT MANAGER BECAUSE HE DID NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO HANDLE THE SITUATION ON THE PRICE DIFFERENCE.

THE STORE MANANGER REFERED ME TO GUY THE DISTRICT MANAGER. I CALLED GUY, AND HE KNEW ABOUT MY SITUATION AFTER TALKING WITH THE STORE MANAGER, BUT DID NOT KNOW THE EXACT MONEY DIFFERENCE UNTIL I TOLD HIM. HE TOLD ME HE COULD NOT MATCH THE PRICE.

I ASKED HIM ABOUT THE WORRY FREE GURANTEE, AND HE STILL SAID HE COULD NOT MATCH THE PRICE AND THAT I COULD RETURN THE TV IF I WAS NO HAPPY WITH THE PRICE.

SO I HAD RENT-A-CENTER PICK UP THE 42"INCH LG PLASMA TV AND NOW I AM OUT OF AT LEAST $900.00 DOLLARS. I JUST READ AN ARTICLE ON THE INTERNET THAT RENT-A-CENTER JUST SETTLED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR $86 MILLION FOR OVER CHARGING THEIR CUSTOMERS IN NEW JERSEY.

I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT I HAD RENTER'S INSURANCE AND RENT-A-CENTER TOLD ME THAT I WOULD STILL HAVE TO BUY THEIR INSURANCE TO GURANTEE THEIR RENTALS WERE 100 PERCENT PROTECTED.

The 42 inch plasma TV I received from rent a center I only had it for a little over a week. The $900.oo dollars I was referring to was for another Tv that I traded in for the plasma 42 inch plasma Tv which I also rented from rent a center. I was told that this money would transfer over to the plasma Tv since it cost more than the other Tv, but it did not.

I am not surprised to see an "ex-employee" give you a detailed account of their "worry-free-guanantee".

Now , you know its just another gimmick phrase to get your money. I would guanantee you that if you walk in the same RentaCenter and see the same plasma tv. you will find it renting for the the same terms and weekly price. what a ripoff! Of course, they will NOT tell the next guy they already have $900 paid into it, or that its been rented multiple times. THATS DISCLOSURE that rentacenter will never be honest about.

The "Motley Fool" site you referred to stated a $109 million dollar lawsuit LOST by RentaCenter in New Jersey appeals. just wanted to inform you.

Your "Optional liability/ damage waiver" that you refer to as insurance, is not insurance AT ALL. It is designed to profit RentaCenter with each payment and can not be used as insurance. The word "OPTIONAL" is wher it is your legal right to obtain this waiver or refuse it. Since you already had "renters insurance" the RAC staff misinformed you or coerced you to pay for something that was not necessary.

Typical RentaCenter tactics with no accountability or knowledge of their own advertisement and requirements in regard to advertisements/ legal issues/policies and proceedures for Store managers and District managers.
It takes an ex-employee to state the facts!

BtW Is the Eagle Rental-Purchase in Cleveland, Ohio a franchise of Eagle RTO based out of Canada.? they control 65% of the RTO market share in Canada and announced they will be franchising 38 states here in the USA. Great company with some solid value to rto customers !!

I copied this text regarding the Worry Free Guarantee. It explains itself. If it is not an advertised price they do not have to match it. Also, it must be excercised within the first week of possesion. If you have paid $900 towards the TV than you have had it for a little while. The price of televisions have dropped quite a bit lately. Here you go I hope this helps.

*RAC's "Worry Free Guarantee" includes (1) Matching Any Local Rent-To-Own Business's Advertised Price (competing advertised price must be for similar payment, delivery and product service terms for in-stock new merchandise on the same brand and model), (2) Delivery, Set-Up and Service (delivery and set-up are included and RAC services and maintains the merchandise while on rent) and (3) Money Back Guarantee must be exercised within your first week of possession to receive either merchandise replacement or a refund of the customer's first payment.
