It's a known fact that Rent A Center over charges on all products, however some problems & situations force you to use this company. I ordered some some furniture was told it would be at a discount since it was used.come to find out that my bill was as much as a new set would cost.

My job situation changed, I started being late on my payment but would get them in .now it's gotten to the point that I'm getting harassing phone, calls they call my contacts putting my business out , they bang on my door hard for long lengths of times they pull back the screen in my window try to open my window this is disturbing my neighbors who are complaining my landlord has been concerned also.

when I called the store to complain and get the name of the workers that have been trying to get in my window they refused to name them. Would not let me talk with the Manager. Now I have letter that they will bring the police.

I've been paying on this furniture since May.For the last few months I've been Harassed ,theatened, terrorized and me & my house have been dispected.

What can  be done.

Pay Your Bill

AUTHOR: rac0089 - (United States of America)

As an employee of Rent-A-Center all I can say is "PAY YOUR BILL". As long as payments are made on or before your due date then we will never contact your references, employer, nor you. There will be no need for us to knock on your door if you would just pay your bill or return the merchandise to the store.  You people act as if we are the bad people here but the reality is that deadbeats like you who do not pay their bills on time expect us at rent-a-center to just let you keep the merchandise without making a payment on it. We can not stay in business if we ran it like that.

In fact, it is considered stolen property if you keep RAC merchandise and do not pay for it, we can and do file reports with the police departments.

The Customer is always Wrong @ RAC

AUTHOR: AngryFatMan - (USA)

I worked for Rent-A-Center in both CT and RI, and the biggest issue with Rent-A-Center collections is the Customer.

They don't call, lie to you and overall make your job impossible to do. The more "drastic" collections methods don't get used until you are far past due. Did you know that in most states, not paying for the property you lease from rent-A-Center is just as if you ran off with a leased automobile- "Conversion of Leased personal property". Yes, you can be charged with fraud for not returning RAC merchandise you can;t pay for.

Rent-A-Center allows you to Return merchandise you cannot afford to keep and at a later date pick up on the same or similar merchandise with all of the money you paid in applied to the new item. This means if you cannot afford to keep that big screen TV you can come back in 6 months when you get a job and pick out another one just like it and not lose any of the money you paid in.

The biggest issue is that people have a sense of entitlement, that just because it is in their home they deserve it. You need to live within your means. If that means sending back the $40/week TV/surround sound, then you do it. Stop blaming Rent-A-Center for the results of your actions. Return the merchandise and they will go away. The reason you went to RAC is because you have no credit or bad credit, which means you are not responsible enough to get items the normal way, by financing or saving the money to purchase them. There is a reason there aren't many companies doing what RAC does, it is because people like you make it unprofitable for them to stay in business.

Return the merchandise.

I must agree,

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States of America)

I use to work for Rent-A-Center in Florida, I enjoyed my job for the most part but when it comes to past due accounts the things we are told to do is insane. I have been there when it comes to Knocking on doors putting flyer's all over and talking with neighbors about where you are, when you were last home. My last day at Rent-A-Center involved a manger that insisted on me calling child services on a customer for being past due. I refused and got (fired/quit)

Best thing you can do is call and talk to the district manager if you cannot get in touch with him/her call the 1800# and they will transfer you to someone who can help. If you are mad nine times out of ten the manager will not want to speak with you and they will NEVER tell you who did what. Go through the customer service line and you will get better help,

Hope it helped, if you have any questions feel free to ask and you will get a honest answer.
