My wife went to rent-a-center to get a new matteress and they told her that she can change the payment arrangement at anytime the first week the gave us a regular matteress but charged us for a pillowtop matteress. So we asked them to change it on the next week and reimberse for the last week. Then when they showed up with the bunkbed for our daughter it was missing screws and parts. Then one week I was not payed my wife called two days before the scheduled payment, she asked it she could pay for two weeks. The guy said yes and my wife found out for a third time that they were still charging us for a pillowtop matteress, but it was ok that we pay next week and quoted us the price that we would have to pay. Two days later they said we had to pay now not next week. That is when they decided that we had to give back the merchandice.

A Blighted Ghost-town and State

AUTHOR: Jr - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Reno and Nevada already have a bad reputation in the national media; a talk with home insurers confirms people and businesses are fleeing Reno and Nevada.  These shocking behaviors by Reno businesses and Nevada public employees give a further black-eye to Reno and Nevada which are increasingly becoming and known as A Blighted Ghost-town and State.  The Reno Rent-a-Center has been notorious for years for their laziness, incompetence, corruption, extortion, blackmail, civil rights violations, abuses, perjury, fraud, false documents, and sewer cleanliness yet have never been held acountable for their illegal and unethical behaviors due to corruption - they pay bribes to each other and public employees.

You did the right thing....

Sometimes the employees can mistakenly load up the wrong item for a delivery. Sometimes it's intentional. On a mattress, I'd say it's more likely they just grabbed the wrong one. Most items have an item # clearly marked somewhere on the back, matresses usually do not although they should.
You did the best thing by returning it. Chances are they will call you in a few days or week or two and ask if you want it back. If you agree, then please make sure it is the right stuff before you accept delivery. Do not pay any $ until you are certain that the correct items you want have been delivered to your home. Double check the new agreement and make sure they gave you credit for the $ you already paid. It's called Lifetime Reinstatement, but usually they won't apply it unless you ask for it.
You can change payment schedules at any time by paying IN ADVANCE for a due date change. This means if you didn't get paid this week, you can't just say make it due in 2 weeks. You have to pay 2 weeks up front. If you miss your due date by even 1 day, they will call you. They will call your friends, your family, and your neighbors. That is their job and is what they are required to do. They will want the $ or the stuff, that's just they way the corporate office makes them run it. Now, sometimes you can make a payment arrangement to pay at a later date. You would probably need to talk to the store manager to do so and its usually not done on a new agreement only 3 weeks old. Be sure to ask lots of questions and get answers in writing if you want to rent from them again. Oh yeh, keep all your receipts! Good Luck!
