My son brought his 96 Saturn to Rick Johnson's Auto and Tire because of a problem with the transmission pulling and jerking. We thought they worked on the car and my son picked it up after hours and it was not fixed, it still did the same thing. They charged my credit card $1,590.00. My son works nights and needed to get to work so he stopped by the next morning, but their only solution was that we put another $3,000.00 into a rebuild of the transmission.

My son stopped by again and pleaded with them that he had no more money to put into the car and it was dangerous to drive, they had no time for him. He took it to Saturn. They fixed it for $415.00. Rick Johnson's claimed they had Saturn dealer put it on the computer to flash? it. Saturn has no record of either dealership having the car.

We had explicitly asked them originally for an itemized receipt, both of us, because I wanted to research the problem, they didn't, it was one lump fee. We asked a number of times for a receipt showing part numbers, they faxed the same receipt with the number hand written on it. We asked for documentation that they ordered the parts from the vendor and they finally faxed us a handwritten receipt with information all blacked out that told us absolutely nothing from a transmission repair shop. I later found out they didn't eve do the work as they claimed. Then I knew we'd been ripped off.

I can't get higher than the district manager named Mike at the South Ft Myers location. I contacted the Company on the website but no room for explanation. I want my money back, they did nothing. They almost got more out of us.

Rick Johnson Auto And Tire

I just wanted to say that Saturn did not verify what was done by RJ's, that would be like taking it all apart all over again, and why would they repair a transmission under warranty on a "12 year old car"? I found out that Rj's do not do the work themselves, it is contracted out. I do want to say that I was issued a full refund by Rick Johnson along with a letter apologizing for the misunderstanding, but he still believes that his staff did work on the car.

The answer is really quite simple.

The answer is really quite simple.

In the State of Florida the Dept. of Agriculture investigates auto repair issues.

They do not have a dog in this fight.

If either one of the parties is not prepared to submit to their investigation, well enough said.

Seems like some info was left out.....

Part of the story above is true. They did spend $1590.00 on transmission repairs for the Saturn. However, they did not mention that they were advised from the start of diagnostics that the transmission should be completely rebuilt. That would have run around $3000. They did not mention that the Saturn dealer checked out all the work that was done by Rick Johnson and verified that it was done and the parts were working correctly. They were advised from the beginning of repairs that a perfectly working transmission was not guaranteed without a complete rebuild.

What I found to be very strange was the fact that Saturn could "fix" their problem for $415.00. An anonymous person at Saturn confirmed that the transmission was completely rebuilt under warranty. The dealership was paid by Saturn to repair the transmission for the customer and then the customer was charged again. Only $415.00 to repair it, hmmm, that still sounds like a ripoff to me! So, once again you have a dealership trying to make another service center look like the badguy.

This is a great example of a bad customer. When your service advisor recommends a complete repair and you don't do it you cannot expect to completely fix a problem. It is even stated on the workorder that the transmission should have been rebuilt, the customer had that option, and that Rick Johnson could not guarantee perfect operation of the transmission. We will continue to offer great services at great prices and be honest with our customers, even if customers are not honest afterwards.
