Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

I received a bill in the mail yesterday 4/6/07 from RJM Acquisitions for a creditor called Fingerhut stating I owe them $154.66. RJM has given me 3 opportunities (1) settle acct with lump sum paying $61.86 at a 60% discount. (2)pay settlement of $92.79 at a 40% discount. (3)RJM is pleased to announce they will accept $11.60 per mounth until balance is paid off.

First of all, I never ordered anything from Fingerhut so I feel that I don't owe this bill. I find it very funny that everytime I tried to call this company since 4/6/07 the line has a fast busy, then when I finally did get through they were closed.

What I want to know is where is this company getting this information that people owe them money especially if they never had dealings with Fingerhut?

First of all, RJM are JUNK DEBT BUYERS. They buy VERY old, USUALLY uncollectable "debts" for pennies or less on the dollar.

This type of debt would sell for far less than a penny on the dollar, usually 1/10th or less. This is TRULY a JUNK DEBT. There is no signed contract, and no personal information usually available on most of these "accounts".

You are no longer dealing with FingerHut. They are not in any way involved except for the determination of SOL. RJM owns the "debt" and THEY must prove that you owe it to THEM.

Fingerhut was a catalog shopping business that has basically died with the explosion of internet shopping and wider use of credit cards and debit cards. Now they have an online system that is more secure but there are a lot of these old accounts out there.

The niche they had was extending in house credit to virtually anyone who mailed in an order from the catalog. There was no real verification of the ID of the customer. Now, with the new security technology and verification processes, they do not have so many no pay problems.

I ordered stuff out of that catalog for a family member's gift when I was 13. No problem.

Forget the BBB. They are absolutely useless and have absolutely no power to make anyone do anything. They are a for profit business, just like RJM and FingerHut.
