Im a single mom trying to take my special needs child on a vacation on the rbc Majesty of the Sea cruise ship; ship was to depart port canal at 4pm. We left our home in Ga at 6am driving the I-95 route.. we arrived at 3:30 pm. had already done an on line check in.

Was told they close the doors at 3:30 and we could not board! My son was so upset it started to put him into a seziure.  So need less to say our trip was not as planned. I offer to go on a different cruise the next day even driving down to further ports and pay the difference. But they said NO!!!!!!!!!

I just dont see how they are going to take money from a single mom and give me nothing. I offer to pay addition for a different ship or date.. but still NO!  I should have just flushed the money down the drain. Please help bring this to the public eyes. sono one else is ripped off by this cruise line

Poor Planning On Your Part.

AUTHOR: Perry Mason - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 03, 2018

You knew, for a fact, you had to make a deadline. You knew, for a fact, you were a long distance from the port. Therefore, COMMON SENSE would have told you there are too many things which could get in the way of meeting that deadline! You failed to use common sense. If you would have, you would have driven there the day before, spent the night and you would have been right on time for the boarding. Oh yes, the fact that you are an unwed mother has NOTHING to do with this. That's YOUR problem. Poor planning on your part caused this...PERIOD!

Sorry

Sorry but your son's disability has nothing to do with this, and you only put that in your report to try and gain sympathy for a mistake you made.

If you actually read the terms you acknolwged you read and agreed to during the booking and/or online check-in, you would see that there are very strict cut-off times for embarkation. You would have also seen that if you do not show up before the cut-off time you will be denied boarding without a refund.  This is not just RC, but EVERY cruise line and is due to Federal regulations.

Directly from their Web Site...
The boarding time for your ship and sailing date is specified in your Guest Vacation Documents. Please do not plan on arriving at the pier prior to the specified time as the ship will not be ready to board guests.

Due to new government regulations requiring cruise lines to submit final departure manifests at least 60 minutes prior to sailing, guests are requested to complete Online Check-in no later than 3 days prior to their cruise. If you do not complete Online Check-in 3 days prior, you will be required to complete this process at the pier at least two hours prior to the published sailing time. Please note: All guests must be checked-in and onboard the ship no later than 90 minutes prior to the published sailing time or you will not be permitted to sail.

I can guarantee you that your boarding documents did not state that 3:30PM was a valid boarding time.  You just left your house too late, as according to where you say your location is, you are about 500 miles away. Even with just basic stops for gas...etc you would be looking at about an 8 hour drive, and you have a Special Needs child. There is no way you should have thought you could have made it in time, even in perfect conditions. To be totally honest with you(and a bit of monday morning quarterbacking),  you really should have left the day before spending the night closer to the Port.

Please help bring this to the public eyes. sono one else is ripped off by this cruise line

How exactly do you explain the few thousand other passengers who were on the ship and got their when they were supposed to? Did they just guess the time they were supposed to arrive, or did they read the same documents you had access to?

You can of course complain and be upset(I would be very upset), but they are under no obligation to do anything.  If you eventually do get something consider yourself lucky, but if they don't it is not a RipOff as they are abiding by the terms you agreed to.
