On Jan 12, 2007 I filed my taxes online with taxbrain.com
my irs return as accepted the next day on Jan, 13, 2006
They told me to click the the link below to find out the status of my refund..this is where the long journey starts
I clicked and found this awnser:
"CERTAIN FACTORS THAT EITHER ALONE OR IN COMBINATION, APPEAR IN A LARGE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS WHERE THE TAX REFUND MAY BE DELAYED OR DISALLOWED BY THE IRS

I was denied by a RAL rapid refund loan that I paid 155.00 to get my money in 2 days.
They said the expected funding date was Jan 26th and then they would mail me a check. Because they state they only gets funds 1 time a week and its always on a friday
On Wed Jan 24th I check their web site stated that my funds were not there on Jan 26th and that I know have to wait till Feb 2, 2006 (friday) to get my money how could they know this already when its only Jan 24th?? (WED) So I called them up they said they get notified on wed's when money is coming in and my money is not there.. I spoke a supervisor she was extremly rude and not professional she hung the phone up on me had a really nasty attituide and I just asked why is that the irs says that my deposit was direct deposited to you people on the 26th and yu dont have my money and they said sometimes the irs can intrecept a tax return if they find erros and I should call the irs so thats what I did called them and they said mine return was sent to them on the 26th and there is nothing wrong with my return. Today Jan 28th this is what it states:

Your application for a Refund Anticipation Loan was denied by Santa Barbara Bank & Trust (SBBT) on 1/15/2007 .

Santa Barbara Bank & Trust (SBBT) will continue to process your income tax refund as originally agreed. When and if SBBT receives your federal or state income tax refund, SBBT will deduct all authorized fees and the balance of your refund will be disbursed to you via the original method chosen when you filed your tax return.

Income Tax Refund Status

The IRS issues refund deposits each Friday, so your delayed deposit may not arrive until the following Friday. You may visit www.irs.gov to check the status of your refund.

The IRS did not deposit funds to your account as originally expected. The IRS usually makes refund deposits within 9 to 16 days, but your deposit was not received within that timeframe. At times the IRS will delay a refund deposit by one week, so you may check back at this site seven days from now. If no deposit is made by then, you should contact the IRS. For more information on the status of your refund, we recommend you visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov and select the "Where's My Refund?" link. Thank you.

Loan Denial Reason(s)

The reason(s) are:

Certain factors in your application information, either alone or in combination, appear in a large number of applications where the tax refund is delayed or disallowed by the IRS.

So I went to the IRS web site again!! and this is what it states:
Refund Status Results Please select this button to print your Refund Results for your records.

Your tax refund was direct deposited on January 26, 2007. If your refund is not credited to your account by January 31, 2007, check with your bank to find out if it has been received. Please wait until January 31, 2007 before you contact us again because we are unable to take any action until then.

so questions is where the heck is my tax return??? nobody seems to know looks like santa barbra bank and trust does this to a lot of people.
Everytime I call I get a different answer nobody seems to be knowing whats going on and get this they did this to my ex husband too he filed with them also to get the same darn run around as me..I am gonna give this company till friday to figure out what the heck is going on and if I dont get my tax return I am gonna file a report with the california attorney generals office.
This is a warning to all consumers dont use taxbrain.com or any company such as jackson hewitt to do your taxes with stick to H and R block..

I I wanted to wait 4 weeks to get my check I would have efiled directly with the irs..

I will keep everyone updated on if I get my money and if my ex husband gets his also..on friday.
Thanks

What do you expect from a California company. Lived out there 15 years and most of the customer service people you have to deal with are non intelligent rude people.

Bunch of flakes that couldn't tell the truth if it hit them. Thank god I moved back to the East Coast.

I know this is an old report, but I too am having the same issue. The IRS says my return is all good, and the direct deposit was to be sent on time. SBBT has this on their website "The IRS issues refund deposits each Friday, so your delayed deposit may not arrive until the following Friday. You may visit www.irs.gov to check the status of your refund.

The IRS did not deposit funds to your account as originally expected. The IRS usually makes refund deposits within 9 to 16 days, but your deposit was not received within that period of time. At times the IRS will delay a refund deposit by one week, so you may check back at this site seven days from now. If no deposit is made by then, you should contact the IRS. For more information on the status of your refund, we recommend you visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov and select the "Where's My Refund?" link. Thank you."

I think this company is ripping people off, holding off on giving people the money for a week in an effort to collect interest on it. If my money is not there on time, I will file a complaint with the attorney general and the comtroller.

DON'T GO TO H&R RIPOFF!

Do FreetaxUSA, Free1040now, or TaxAct on line. Click "no" when the software asks you to upgrade to "deluxe" and all that. Some states do not have free eFile on their website. One taxpayer emailed me and said it was only 10.00 to do BOTH Federal and State on FreeTaxUSA. Turbotax is 30.00; TaxAct is 17.00; 32 if you wish to print your State return as well as eFile Fed and state. H& R ripoff's taxcut is 45 and there have been complaints about the software and even the accuracy of the software. Several States do not charge on their website to do income taxes. So you may be able to iFile {eFile} the State return for free. If the IRS accepts your return, you should get your State back in 5 business days {except NY} and your Federal in 10-15 business days depending upon how late in the season and what date you actually submitted the return or they received via U.S. postal mail. This also depends upon the software not messing up. You have to keep checking to make sure it went through. I've bought very expensive software before {Drake } and it didn't go through. I got all kinds of lies and excuses for why it didn't go through, depending upon which rep answered the phone.

The solution is not to go to shysters whose motivation is to fleece you: what I call the boiler room operators: HR Block, Jackson-Hewitt, Liberty {owned or previously owned by Mr.Hewitt and a few others} Block is the only one that is not seasonal, but it turns for many reasons that that is not a plus for Block. I'll
be discussing H&Ripoff under the heading of H&R Block. You can do your taxes yourself unless you are in a complicated situation - a proprietorship, partnership, lot of real estate deals with depreciation, foreign taxes and regulations, own a mutual fund - along that line.

If you are not comfortable, get on the National Association of Enrolled Agents- naea.org - web site. Click on "Find an EA". Type in your town, state or zip code. Enrolled agents do not work cheap, but your taxes will be done right and they will go with you if you are audited by the IRS. Not always are they lawyers but have the power of attorney with the IRS. Enrolled agents are professional tax practitioners who have technical expertise in the field of taxation, and are licensed to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service at all administrative levels. Moreover, enrolled agents are the only tax practitioners required by Federal law to maintain their expertise through continuing professional education. Tax attorneys and CPA's used to have that requirement, but lobbied and no longer are required. It was too hard for them to pass the EA examination and to maintain their EA certification through continuing professional education. A CPA is worthless to the taxpayer unless that CPA is an Enrolled Agent. Note all the scandals. Accountants can't account. Ask an accountant to do taxes for a taxpayer who lived in 3 different states last year. They cannot without a computer, unless they are EA's. I've been to seminars where the EA's did the 3 states by hand! The reason is that the computer is not going to try to find the lowest aggregate Federal and State income tax liability overall. Lawyers lose on your behalf and lose radically. Bankers are insolvent. Journalists can't report: they never tell the truth. Economists can't predict recessions and depressions. There have been ZERO scandals in the vast majority of enrolled agent chapters since the founding of the NAEA in 1982. In other words, do not recommend Block!
