I just happened to check RipOff Report to see if they were still up to same old, same old. Sure enough they were. We were in one class action suit, did no good what so ever, never got any money, lost our home, $30,000 and I feel like our reputation of being honest, hardworking, billpaying people. FTC, Hud, Congresswomen, were all involved. Not one thing happened to help us, plus they ruined our credit. They were criminal in the way they abused people. For anyone who doesn't know, in North Carolina, the NC Banking Association or what ever you call them that regulate Banks, do not govern Loan Servicing corps. And that is what Select Portfolio does, Service Loans. There is so much corruption going on in this country. I cannot believe that our government, especially the Federal Trade Commission and HUD are still allowing this to go on. They have a license to steal and unfortunately we didn't have enough sense to realize it untill it was too late. Also, on the Forced insurance deal: Select Portfolio owned their own insurance company that was located in the same office and also their so called attorneys they threaten you with are actually just hard core collectors. I am sure most people that have or have had a mortgage with these people know all about hard core collectors. My husband has come home from work more than once with me in tears because I had had to deal with these people during the day with their threats, and me with my mouth hanging open not understanding at all how they could be so cruel and hateful and threatening. (and I had insurance all along and proved it, plus my payments were up to date as far as I knew) but who cared???? I was naive enough to think right up to the foreclosure hearing that this could not happen to us, especially since I had a stack of paperwork 6 to 8 inched high of that supported my claim . The clerk of court didn't care what I had or that I tried to explain the foreclosure was forced from bogus charges. End result was that maybe after all they did m e a favor by taking the house. A bankruptcy attorney told me that I could file if I wanted to but in six months they could do the same thing over again. By that time another mortgage lender wouldn't touch our loan, everyone in the mortrgage loan industry knew about Fairbanks aka Select Portfolio. You couldn't even get a loan to pay them off and expect to receive the paper work they were by law suppose to give you such as a clear deed of trust. The bankruptcy attorney I spoke with had bought one of their properties out of foreclosure and had to take them to court to get the deep of trust. So if an attorney can't do anything with them, why should we expect to. They have allready proven, they can get away with it. I was surprised to see they are still doing the same old same old. Good luck to all concerned.

I have always owned my own home but now my husband is ready to retire, our money and home is gone, and we live in an apartment house, with 3 other tenants. Some retirement, certainly not what we expected. I don't guess I will ever fully recover from it. My family and friends didn't believe us anyway, naturally they thought we just should have paid our bills. Little do they know! Anybody out there listening????
