Skyway Towing and Recovery Blocked my car that was in an unmarked space with no signage while visiting my doctor. Was very confrontational. St Petersburg Florida

I am absolutely appaled that this goes on in a town like St Petersburg. I though everyone here was super nice until this encounter. I moved here for a better life and because of the small city vibe. 

I parked in a lot where every single space was marked, some handicap, some for the gym, some for Planned Parenthood, etc. There were a few spots that had absolutely no markings (see photos). I pulled into one of these spaces because in any other parking lot around the world, these would be open spaces. I have had several surgeries over the last few years and was going to see a doctore due to chronic pain. I got out of my vehicle and was halfway to the buildkng, about 20 feet from my car when I hear a truck pull up behind me. 

A man gets out of a tow truck and immedaitly starts yeliing at me to give him $100 cash now or pay a lot more later when he tows my car. I went back to my vehcile and told him I will move it. He immedialty attached his tow to my car while I was trying to get into it to drive away. During this entir process he is yelling at me like a mobster, demanding $100. I simply could not fathom why anyone would act like this. I am a simpler person with handicaps and chronic pain who just want to visti the doctor and parked in an unmarked space. Why was I being yelled at and why was he screaming about $100?

He said I have a few minutes to get cash or else. I ran and got cash so he would not tow my car because I needed to see my doctor band needed my car after to go get medication. He cliamed there was a sign at the front of the lot when I drove in that stated private lot. I took a picture of the sign. which was bent and wrapped around the pole it was on rendering it unlegible to anyone driving in. This was obvioulsy by design so this criminal could lure in unsuspection drivers. But the lot was not private, there were spaces clearly marked for businesses and unmarked spaces. The best part was that the lot was half full and there were plenty of spaces. I searched the internet for this company and this scam has been going on for years. Where is the city? Where are the police? Does St Petersburg want this type of reputation with tourists? This is a beautiful place and there should be no space for scammers like this. 

The guy was so rude and confrontational that I was scared into giving him $100, which was for my medicaltion. I missed my doctor's appointment and now don't have the money to get my pain meds. This is unbelievable. We will be opening a case both with the city and a firm in order to put an end to this evil person's shenanigans. I asked for a reciept and he was reluctant to give me one. After several demands he wrote some half scribbled, unlegible, very unprofessional scrathings on a piece of paper. He wanted my driver's license and told me he would not give it back untiil I drove my car off my lot. I told him that is totally illegal and he ignored me. I move my car off the lot and he acted like he did not have my license. I demanded he give it back but I had to fight for it. 

My biggest hope is that he is not raising children. They will learn all the wrong life lessons on how to treat people, run an honest business, and scamming people out of money. In this world we don't need anymore of this bad energy.
