I bought a Select Comfort Sleep Number from Sleep Train awhile back and I told them that I wanted the highest model that Select Comfort have which is the Sleep Number 9000. To create misinformation in the bedding industry, all bed models are named differently in different stores but if you do a lot of research carefully based on the material, you will find out which model you actually got. Any way, to save a little money, I bought the "floor" model which was sanatized. But since it was a "floor" model, there was absolutely "no returns".

I did my research online and wanted the Select Comfort Sleep Number 9000 which was Select's highest model. I went to Sleep Train and told their sales guy which model I wanted. At Sleep Train, their Select Comfort Select Number V is their highest model but is only equal to the Select Comfort 7000 but they sell and charge the price of a Select Comfort Sleep Number 9000. Secondly they go around stating that it IS THE SLEEP NUMBER 9000. He showed me a Select Comfort Sleep Number 7000 and I repeatedly question him and he swears up and down that it is the Sleep Number 9000 and not the Sleep Number 7000. I told the sales guy I was going to lunch and will be back to decide if I wanted it. I walked out and called another Sleep Train store and asked for the Select Comfort Sleep Number 9000 and once again, their sales agent refers me to their Sleep Number V (which is a Sleep Number 7000).

I didn't remember everything in FINE details from the research I did the previous day so I thought why would they lie. I went back and purchase their Select Comfort Sleep Number V and received it 2 days later. I called up Select Comfort corperate office and asked to verified my purchase and they told me that I was the proud owner of the "SELECT COMFORT SLEEP NUMBER 7000". I told them that Sleep Train said that I purchased the Sleep Number 9000. Select Comfort rep said,"Sleep Train does not carry our Sleep Number model 9000 so how can they sell you something they don't carry?" Only then I realized I got rip off.

So if you bought a Select Comfort Sleep Number V and thinking you bought A Sleep Number 9000, You got rip off too!!! Those who are thinking about getting a Select Comfort at Sleep Train, forget it....They will misinform you and sell you a lower model at the price of a higher model and tell you...you got the right bed.

As a company, I strongly believe that Sleep Train is a great company that would not tolerate any wrong doing by any of it's employee. And since it cannot police everybody, you should have called their customer service line since you had a problem with your purchase and you felt like the store that you bought it from couldn't help you.

Let me confirm though that the sales people that you talked to didn't lie to you when they told you that the 9000 is "comparable" to the V (or DVx) model. It's not the exact same mattress but it is the closest comparable mattress. It is far different from the 7000 model though and if you are telling the truth that you called select comfort and they told you that the V (DVx) is comparable to the 7000 - then I'm sure as an intelligent person, you can do your own comparison and decide for yourself.

Sleep Train sells real Select Comfort mattresses and they are not knock-offs. As an authorized distributor, they have their own line of the Sleep Number bed.

If you were able to write a rip-off report on the company (which proves that you are computer literate), I'm sure you can go to (((link redacted))), look at the 9000 model and write down the foam toppers that are on the mattress. It will tell you that it has 2 inches of memory foam and 2 inches of intralux (synthetic latex). The Sleep Train's V model has 3 inches of intralux and 1 inch of memory foam. They are not exactly the same mattress but they are definitely comparable. The 7000 model only has 3 inches of intralux and no other foam topper. It's comparable to the III (EUX). The IV (DV) model is exclusive to Sleep Train and it has 1 inch of memory foam and about 3 inches of zoned foam - the select comfort mattress that they carry online or at the Select Comfort stores will have nothing comparable to this.

I'm sure you have the mattress right now so I suggest that you unzip the top cover and look at the foam toppers. If you have memory foam and latex and it's cut in the middle (so both sides can customize the foam feel - whether intralux or memory foam), then you definitely have the V (DVx) model and it's comparable to the 9000.

To give you the benefit of the doubt, and if you see one piece of foam (just intralux like the 7000), the salesman definitely blatantly lied to you and provided you with wrong mattress. You should report him to customer service and get that person fired for misrepresenting the company's ideals.

Good luck.
