Spirit Airlines is BAD spirit in the Air - 1492 complaints at the time of this writing. Ironically, 1492 was the year Christopher Colombus discovered the Americas. Coincidence that a flight booked to Haiti turned into a financial nightmare? They took flight cancelation, fees for carrier & balance became null since I did not book my flight 60 days after for a ticket that is valid for 1 year. Stay away. Miramar Florida

At the time of writing this report, there were 1,492 ripoff reports against Spirit Airlines on this site alone. Ironically, 1492 was the year Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas. Coincidence that a flight booked to Haiti has become a nightmare and costly? First, the airline made a mistake by booking the flight from Fort Lauderdale to Haiti and Haiti to Fort Lauderdale the same day last December 2012. When I discovered that I called for rectification. Instead, they said we cannot change the flight. I had no choice but to cancel altogether. I was told they will charge cancelation fees, I agreed, against my will. Then I was told by the agent that I had one year to use the remaining balance, which should be in December 2013. They took cancelation fees for the flight and carrier that I never checked in. My hope was to use the balance against a new flight in November once I knew when my trip would be. To my dismay, after making my new reservation, I called a live person to know how to use my credit. I was told that the credit was forfeited since I only had 60 days (February 2013) to make reservation for a new flight. Thus, the balance became null and void. If they really told me to use the balance 60 days after the cancelation, I would still be losing money, since I did not know when my next trip would be. Therefore, I would be forced to cancel again and lose the balance because I would only be guessing a travel time. My friends have even more horrible experiences with this bad spirit airlines: lost baggage, having to buy another ticket when the airline is at fault, spending time at airports due to their mistakes and the list goes on and on. They charge fees for anything and everything even for your seat. Why would someone buy a ticket and have to pay for his/her seat? Does someone buy a ticket to stand in the plane? My advice to you is Stay Away from any bad spirit, specially BAD Spirit Airlines.
