Was I wrong when I decided to go with SprintPCS for a cell phone package!!! Should have looked at this website before buying!!!

Anyway, we went to Best Buy and talked with a SprintPCS salesperson about a plan that would be ideal for my wife and I.

After discussing our needs, the saleperson recommended the 4000 minute package SprintPCS offers for $39.99/mo. The person then sold us on adding a phone to the accound for my wife, and together we would split the minutes in the plan for an additional $20.00/mo.

The salesperson then descibed all the features and how we would be provided account and usage information by either dialing *4 or accessing our account on-line at www.sprintpcs.com.

At no point in time did the salesperson mention that SprintPCS and its advance worldwide network cannot keep track of total minutes used when a phone is added to an account like the plan we bought.

Everything was fine until we received our second bill for the month of May 2002. We owed a lot of money for going over on our minutes.

During that month, I would go to the web site and check our usage. The website led us to believe we had plenty of minutes left.

When I called a customer rep to find out what was going on, the rep explained to me that SprintPCS is unable to track minutes with an add-on phone account like mine.

I let the rep know how I tracked usage throughout the month and was led to believe I was okay. She was sympathetic to my position, but insisted that if I wanted the ability to accurately track my minutes that we should get two separate accounts.

I told her I wasn't interested in two separate accounts and that it sounded all like a ploy to get us to pay more - which it was.

I then asked her if she could tell me if I had gone over in minutes for the current month (June). She said she could not and that the only way to tell is when the bill comes in. What a crock of @#@!

After going back and forth, she finally agreed to give us credit for the next bill cycle. I viewed this as a victory and and I considered myself lucky for that.

It took me a day to realize how screwed we were because of the inability to track minutes. I guess SprintPCS likes this flaw with their system so they can continue ripping people off like me.

My options were to keep a journal of all minutes used, upgrade to two different accounts, or bail out of the plan after three months and pay the $150.00 fee.

I wanted to bail out, but didn't think I was liable for the $150.00 fee since the plan we bought was misrepresented!

So I called a customer rep and got the run-around. He basically told me to either upgrade to two plans or bail out by paying the $150.00 fee. He stated that the policy on usage is well documented on the website and in the documentation.

Well it does, but is found in the fine print and is up to interpretation. My interpretation of "the listed minutes may vary from your current actual usage", to me means actual usage and what is listed could be a little off. Not off by 100 minutes or more!!! The supervisor wouldn't budge and stood behind the bull#$$# policy.

I'd very much like to terminate the contract and pay the fricken fee, but I'm only 3 months into the 1 year contract and purchased two SpintPCS phones. So I'd lose a lot more than $150.00. But I swear once the year is up, Sprint will lose a good paying customer and hopefully a lot more.

Bad Business, customer service

To make it short and sweet. SprintPCS has very high rates. The connections are not that well. To top it off on a monthly basis I have never not paid my bill. Four (4) days before the past due date sprint shuts my phone off. When I call them to let them know that they should be recieving payment soon, keep in mind we just had a holiday as well, and that I always pay my monthly bills that there was no need to shut my phone off. I pay about $150.00 per month for a shared family plan with 2 phones. I cannot express just how disgruntled I am. To cancel my service would be 150.00. And it is sad to say that i would rather pay double the amount a month with another company than to stay with sprintpcs.
