We contacted standard screen printing October 2011 about receiving a quote on approx. 150 t-shirts for a nonprofit organization, that Im vice president of. We continued to correspond by email about the t-shirts, quotes, and also different proofs for the t-shirt art design until approx. February 2012.

This is the first instance the company stated Yes you still get the free koozies too, its one free koozie for every shirt you order and it gets a one color, one side print. So if you order 200 shirts you get 200 free printed koozies.. We continued to correspond with them about the t-shirts and proofs until approx. May 2012 when the female we were working with went on maternity leave.

Side note: The were hesitant with providing us with multipule proofs. They were becoming aggitated when we would request new proofs even though their website says free artwork.

At this time we started to correspond with another female from standard screen printing. During this time we had finalized the proof for the front and back of the shirt. In May 2012 we received an invoice from the company for 140 assorted t-shirts along with 140 koozies.

In May 2012 we received an email from UPS stating our order was being mailed to us. In May 2012 we received the t-shirts with no koozies. We inventoried the shirts and noticed that 6 shirts had bad printed images and 10 were printed off center.

After noticing the shirts one of our board members called the company and spoke with a female and she stated that we needed to send pictures of the misprinted shirts and that we did not provide them with a proof for the koozies so we would not receive them.

At no time during any email correspondence, phone conversations, or on the invoice did they state we needed to provide them with a proof for the koozies. The following day I called the company and tried speaking with the female but a male on the phone said she was busy and I needed to send pictures and hung up.

On June 2, 2012 I emailed the female about the concerns with the shirts, not receiving the koozies, and also provided pictures of the t-shirts as requested. As of this statement we have not received an email back. I have called the company every other day trying to get these issues resolved and each time I am told the female is busy and the person I'm speaking with cannot help me.

Lately when i call the phone just rings and rings and rings. I am not sure if they have noticed its my number and refuse to answer. Either way standard screen printing is not responding to any of our emails or phone calls.

I have tried to resolve this issue with the company and they refuse to speak with me or anyone from our organization. We are just looking to get what we were promised in our invoice, what we paid for, and the misprinted shirts replaced. At this point i dont think any of this will happen. Now i want to make sure others are aware of their practices and lack of customer service and quality of products.

At the  comment before. If you have 6 missing shirts you should get them replaced for free our company follows this policy. That is standards fault and ridiculous if that is not done. Our shop has a tri lock system that makes it nearly perfect centered. I think a customer can tell if a shirt is badly off centered otherwise they would not complain about it! I would want my money back or the shirts replaced to If I ordered them that's just common sense.

Off placement and bad printing.

I am a printer myself and while I do not discredit your complaint, I also want to add this information.

A layman or average customer to the screen printing industry may not be aware that all tee shirts are mounted onto the press platen "manually" and is subject to random placement. This is done on a manual press the same way it is done on an automatic press in high volume shops.

This placement can sway top, bottom, side to side in a variance of approximately .25-1.5".  No two shirts land identically in any given order unless by chance.  Any customer should expect the shirts to be placed straight, horizontally and vertically so that you do not have a crooked print, but it's not feasible to expect the print to be 100% true center on every or even most shirts.

If you were to go into any store and measure the location of each print on the same design, you will see this random position. This is no matter the size of the Company. It's typical industry standards.

So, the question of 10 miss positioned or off center prints begs the question, Just how far off? It may also be noted, that the industry of screen printing also has an industry standard of + or - 2% spoilage. This is to say, if you order 100 tees, you can expect to have as much as two of them to be miss prints in some form or fashion.

Lastly, the question of a quality print comes into play. How is the quality judged? By who and how did these judging standards of choice come about and is this person a qualified person to judge the level of the quality? Just what is a bad print?  We didn't get that part of the information to be able to determine if they really are bad prints. How does it look? Why do you feel it is "bad".  Is it simply different in some way than the other 144 that were printed well?  Is 6 bad prints really worth posting a bad report or could this be part of  getting back at the Co.

Usually when something goes wrong with an order or a project (such as no koozies), it's much easier to them go back through everything with a fine toothed comb to find other issues wrong to help support your stance. What did you really want to happen?  Was it to get the 6 bad prints re printed or was it to get your money back on the 6 bad prints and the 10 miss placed prints? Obviously, you could not get your money back for the free koozies even if you did not get them. They were free.

On occasions, the customer is not always right. They may feel they are and feel wronged but in truth, it's possible that the customer simply may have unobtainable expectations. I am not indicating that this is the case here. Just adding some additional insight that may benefit others when ordering screen printed products.
