State Roofing ripoff, dishonest, made lying into a art form, horrible customer service and rude to the maximum. Fort Lauderdale Florida

This company was very attentive and diligent in trying to win my business(installing a new tile roof). The salesman Don Semon sold the job and made several verbal promises as part of the signed contract, like the job would be started in 3 weeks from date of the contract.

After I signed the contract and paid the $7,346.00 deposit, Don Semon had nothing to do with me saying i must call the office and speak to one of several people. This was the begining of constantly poor customer service, a trail of lies and decet and ended in the company walking away from the contract leaving me with thousands of dollars given to the company and a unfinished roof, expired permit, several thousand dollars in legal fees and water damage to the interior of my home.

The contract was signed for $49,000.00 on August 17,2005. A check for deposit was given for $7,346.00. the job was to begin in 3 weeks. After many phone calls and physical visits to their headquarters (on comercial blvd.) and certified letters of which the company did not respond to or answer any of my inquiries except when I visited their offices and I stood in front of either John or sheri and then I was told a string of lies.

At one point I threatened to seek legal help and Sheri said go ahead we like that because you will only hurt yourself our owner is an attorney! At any rate ,I detected thatI made the wrong decision in signing with these pack of lairs and cheats.

I decided to keep a log of every phone call, letter, visit, fax and contact with these people. Finally the company sent workers to begin work on November 11,05 after hurricane Wilma went directly over Broward county. I needed a roof in August before the hurricane and certainly needed one now!

The workers in tearing off the old roof and installing the tar paper broke a main sprinkler line, broke several pieces of my bomanite driveway and left thousands of nails all over, dropped debris into my pool and had tar all over the pool deck.

To make the story quicker the company was suppose to install the next phase, hot mop, and make the roof water tight until the tiles arrived. The materials for the hot mopping did not get delivered until Jan.4/06 2 months later. I was told the hot mop would be done within a week after completion of the tar paper installation. The hot mop was never competed by state roofing.

I had several small leaks from the tar paper installion and I sent several certified letters claiming such as well as phone calls and faxes. No reply on the leaks.

More lies and empty promises were given by the company when I stood in front of them at their offices. I could no longer tolerate heir attitude or lies and went to employ an attorney Feb 1,2006.

The company used the service of a person named Steve Tafeen who I believe sole purpose was to burn up as many hours of my attorneys time so that my legal fees would be such that i would accept their terms.

On March 23, broward county experienced a horrendious rain storm that flooded my kitchen with 2 inches of water ruining my hardwood floors and walls and ceiling. This damage occured because the hot mop materials that were left on the roof impeded the water from running off the roof and the materials that were dropped on the roof put holes in the tar paper.

I had to hire an outside contractor to hot mop the roof to protect my property from further damage. State roofing walked away after receiving another $22,000.00. Total paid out to them was just short of $30,000.00. I believe the company did not want to finish the job as the same roof job would cost $100,000.00 after the hurricane.

Stay away from this company they have a very slick advertising campaign. I am left with an unfinished roof that no contractor will want to finish and even think of warranting someone elses work.
