Too good to be true...

I signed up with SureWest because of the great deal they were giving me. With all the services AT&T was providing me it was about $161 per month. When a salesmen from SureWest came to my door & told me he could offer me all the same services for $94.98 per month, $133.78 after the first year, free install, & the first month is free. The set up was supposed to be 3 HD/DVR boxes with all the channels you can get.

When the tech came out to install everything he only had 2 HD/DVR boxes. Not a big deal. When I contacted a manager about the issue he took care of it. He informed me that there was a mistake when everything was inputted in the computer. Everything was back on track. The whole set up for $94.98 per month for the first year, & $133.78 after that.

Then my first bill came... The bill was $201.27! I called them right away. When I finally got ahold of someone they could not help me. They informed me that they would have a manager call me asap. A week went by with no call. When I called again I got the same story. They would have to have a manager call me. A few days go by & I call again. I got the same story, but I had to demand to talk with a manager. 

The manager was no help. He started to explain to me that there were service charges, & they were charging me for the extra boxes. Plus I had to pay a proration ammount for the first month. After explaining to him the first month was supposed to be free he told me that he would have to contact the salesmen & call me back. He assured that he would call me before the end of the day. No phone call...

I called back the next day because I really need to resolve this issue. When I finally got the manager to call me back he had the salsemen on the phone too. The salesmen back pedaled on his promises. The thing that doesn't get me is... I have all this in writing on what I am supposed to get. So between the salsemen and the manager they told me they would have to pull the recording from the day of install to see what was discussed with the other manager about the extra box. That process would take up to 24 hours because there was nobody there that could access recordings.

I'm now in a rock & a hard place. There is a 30 day grace period where you can cancle with no fees. This is now Friday Feb 3rd. My first phone call was almost 3 weeks ago, & my 30 days is up on the 5th. In my opinion they are pacifying me till the 30 day period is up. I would cancel right away, but I can't get AT&T out here until the 7th of Feb, & I'm hosting a Superbowl party so I need TV service!

If one person can read this, & not sign up with SureWest, the 15 min it took me to sign up for Ripoff Report & type this message was worth it. I will gladly pay the extra money for AT&T than ever have to deal with SureWest again.
