This firm has a very deceptive website which led me to believe that they are offering a free membership. when in fact there is a charge of $159 plus when they take it out from your account for the total of $162.18. The website is so confusing that I believe it is intentionally designed to confuse people. When I realized that I had been charged $162.18 on the same day of October 4, 2010. I immediately contacted them to cancel my membership and want my money back. I printed out their form from their website, because that is the only way you can have a refund. I mailed it out on the same day. And I contacted them through their live chat and advised to go through their live chat on October 10, 2010. On that day, I was advised to contact them today, November 1, 2010. Now they are telling me:

Sable#SA8852: SwipeAuctions is winding down operations to merchant shutting down our processing and is no longer accepting new customers. In addition, SwipeAuctions will not issue refunds for membership fees. I sincerely apologize, but i have no further details to provide you at this time. As as livechat agent, i have not been fully informed of all the details behind the shutdown. Therefore, I am simple unable to assist you with any further informations.

This only means that I am losing my money and this is for my school.

If the site is being shut down (which I expected ever since I read the first complaint here a month or so ago.. and there are a LOT), and they are not taking any more memberships, and are no longer refunding any membership fees..this report doesn't do you any good.

But what can do you some good..and anyone else who needs money for school and other important things, is to not give out any credit card info to some "confusing" or any website until you investigate and research a little first. There is no shortage of information regarding this and other penny auctions..and the fact that they are actually nothing less then online gambling for prizes..and many have deceptive membership fees.

But the bottom line is this. If you do not submit credit card/bank info to any websites, you will not have any of these types of unexpected charges show up. When you submit credit/debit card or bank information out online..you need to expect that in doing so..you are authorizing someone to charge the account... Now if this gambling site was not trying to decieve anyone into paying this fee..that would have a separate "confirmation" page where you are notified of the total amount of the charges..asked on this separate and non distracted page that you agree to the total charges and what they are for..and then submit and get a page with a confirmation number, and payment info to print out or electronically file.

I do not know if any law requires payment to be made this way..but if a site did not have intent on deceiving people, that is the way they would do it..then no one would have to complain they didn't know they were being charged. Make sense?
