Talk America ripoff Fraudulant billing practices Internet

I changed phone companies, cancelled my account with Talk America. Was not told by Talk America that I will be billed if the cancellation occurred after new billing cycle started. I had made one interstate call worth $1.10 two days into the new cycle. Was billed for taxes and surcharges for a total of $49.15. Cycle started on 8/23, I made call on 8/24 and cancelled on 8/28. Was told by supervisor that they do not prorate these charges and that I owe this amount. They are completely unwilling to negotiate. I ended up paying 2 phone companies for the month. What a rip-off.
