I was called by phone and was offered a Cancun Vacation for 2 adults and 2 children for 5 night/6 days at one of the two spotlighted Resorts:  http://www.mypremiervacations.com/; www.laqunasuites.com.mx and www.oceanhotelscancun.com.

The whole offer/acceptance was 'recorded' for accuracy.

I was told that the only fee applied later, would be the $69 fee for booking the reservation.  I was told that I could transfer MY CONTRACT to anyone that I wanted to.  I was told that I had to have a reservation date set within 12 months; but that the offer could be extended for 6 more months.

So I transferred MY CONTRACT to my son.  At 12 months, in keeping with their guidelines, he called to make the reservation.  He was told that he had to pay $69 plus an additional $110 for hotel taxes.  So I checked MY CONTRACT.  There was no such fee listed; only the $69 booking fee was mentioned.

I then contacted RON ROUSSEL (who transferred MY CONTRACT to my son), who informed me that the 'old purchase letter' did not show the required Mexican Hotel Tax, but the "new purchase letters" do state the tax.  Then he outlined the 'new purchase letter'.  Everything was the same, except the additional fee was added.

The original contract has been broken by them and I have requested my money back.  ($349)

Timeshare Scams in Mexico

AUTHOR: ThomasR - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, June 26, 2013

I'm sorry about that, The Sunset Group, along with Mayan Palace and the Royal Elite timeshare resorts are particularly known for using misleading and fraudulent timeshare sales tactics. Therefore, next time, before you purchase (if you ever do) you need to think carefully how you will use it in your life, and if you have the money to spend; take your time and don´t make any commitments on your first visit. Also, don’t forget to do an internet search on the company, and if the company is legit they will let you come back another day if you wish to make de purchase.

Resolution

AUTHOR: PCV Quality Control - ()

POSTED: Friday, April 05, 2013

We thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.  We have researched our system and we note that we have had numerous conversations with you regarding this issue.  During the last of which we offered to play the verification recording tape for you so that you could hear, in your own words, your acknowlegment and understanding that you are responsible for the payment of airline tickets, hotel taxes and a $69 reservation fee, in order to use the vacation. We urge you to contact the customer service department so that we may play this recording for you.  The requirement to pay for airline tickets, hotel taxes and the reservation fee would be applicable if you, yourself, used the vacation or to whomever you transferred the vacation package, in your case, your Son.  The contract has not, in any way been broken or altered due to the transfer.

Although your vacation package is currently expired, in an effort to assist you, we would be happy to allow for a reactivation of your vacation and allow you to travel anytime during the next 12 months so that you or your Son, if you like, may use the vacation package and enjoy a fabulous stay in Cancun with us.  We will waive the reactivation fee for your vacation in the amount of $150.00.  As such, the only fees that will need to be paid to us so that you may enjoy your vacation is the $69 reservation fee and hotel taxes.  As always, airline tickets are also your responsibility.

We hope that you find this resolution acceptable and visit us here, in Cancun, very soon.

Sincerely,
QUALITY CONTROL
