I hired attorney Robert C. Azcano through the ticket clinic to represent me for a traffic violation. The ticket clinic assured me that I did not need to appear in court.
Attorney Azcano never made any contact with me whatsoever to discuss my case or the strategy / plan for defense. Instead, Attorney Azcano showed up in court and pled no contest to the charges against me and allowed fines and court costs to be levied against me.
If Attorney Azcano had been forthcoming with me about his defense plan I would have elected to appear in court and represent myself.
Attorney Azcano and the ticket clinic were successful in having points withheld from my license, but did not make any attempt at all to defend or argue in court on my behalf. The representation (or lack there of) was incompetent to say the least.
I believe an attorney has a responsibility to be honest and at least make contact with their client to confer and ensure that their client agrees with the plan for defense.
