TiVo rebate ripoff Miami Florida

I purchased a TiVo machine for my niece over the Xmas holidays 2005, and promptly mailed in the receipt and the rebate form by certified mail. I didn't hear from the company for several weeks. When I inquired by certified letter again, it took them several months to respond. They sent me a postcard telling me I needed to submit all my documents again. I had put these receipts and documents in storage and could not access them. I did however, resend the company a copy of my green returned receipt card and copy of original receipt from the post office where I mailed the receipt and rebate form in the 1st place. They sent me another card which I rec'd on 7/5/06, telling me I had until 7/18/06, to provide them with documents that I'd already provided them with back in January 2006.

I spent additional money to make sure I sent the first documents by certified mail, and my $150 rebate was denied. So the TiVo machine that was only supposed to cost me $49.99, actually wound up costing me $249.99. I believe that Circuit City(where the rebate was offered) and the rebate processing company conspired to deny people from getting the rebate. I will not buy anything else from Circuit City, and will be leery about purchasing anything else that promises a mail rebate.
