At least you can cancel your check and it won't cost you...I gave them some change and then they called their supervisor or whatever, and I gave her my debit! It was only until later that I realized what a huge scam it was, and now I have to do a stop payment.

Okay, so these two nice looking college age guys come to my door. I answer, and they tell me that they're going around practicing their public speaking, manners, stuff like that, and when they're done, could I fill out a comment card? So I said, yeah, no problem. So they're like, what do you do? And they're keeping eye contact, being friendly, which I assume was for practice. So I tell them, oh, I'm a student, and tell them my major and they also tell me it's really inspiring, and they were pretty funny, and this guy also gave me a lot of high-fives, too.

Anyway, then they tell me they're also having this contest where they gain points so they can go to Europe, and this had nothing to do with the comment card I thought they wanted, and then they showed me magazines that I could buy, and the more they sell, the more points they get to go on their trip, and they were telling me that the girls always beat them every time. So, I bought some magazines.

The cost ended up being 120 something, and it was only until after they left and my mom called and I told her that I realized that I was basically buttered up and made to feel obligated to buy something to help these guys out--and I never even saw a comment card which they said was their reason for being there in the first place!!! So, I called and they told me to take my receipts, mail them and have them postmarked within three days of purchase, and they will refund me. This happened today, and I am not only going to mail it, I'm going to mail it certified.

I realize that this happened because of my own stupidity and lack of common sense, but I want to post this anyway so that others can see what it is, and not make the same mistake that I did. My mother also told me that if you have a problem with a scam, file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office. If I get charged and lose all that money, that is exactly what I am going to do.
