Toyota of Dallas Misleading 7 year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty Internet

It appears that some of the same information that was faxed to the CEO of Toyota on April 20, 2005 is also available at this website in the consumer comments section at another Ripoff Report.

Just type 284134 at this site and scroll down to Consumer Comment #1 at Ripoff Report #284134 in order to read it. That consumer comment was posted on November 13, 2007.

Fact: Ten months after that consumer comment was posted at this website, the stock market crashed and Lehman Brothers collapsed. The Dow Jones lost a record 777 points on September 29, 2008, and the financial system in the USA collapsed. Several large corporations were also on the verge of collapsing, including General Motors, Chrysler, AIG, Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae. The nine largest publicly held banks in America also received $120 Billion in TARP money from the Treasury Secretary in one day.

It's real easy to know when a car salesman is lying......every time their lips move!   P.S....To think you get a factory new car warranty on a USED vehicle is a total tard move. My guess is the salesman saw you as an easy mark.

If you recently purchased this extended warranty, you can cancel it today and get a refund.

Simply walk into the Toyota dealership and tell them that you want to cancel your extended warranty now. Make sure that you get it in writing that the extended warranty was canceled and have the finance manager at the dealership provide you with copies of the paperwork or the e-mail that proves it was canceled.

*Do not trust what they say. Only trust what you get in writing which will confirm that the extended warranty was canceled. Make sure that the check is made out to you and not to the dealership. Also get the phone number to the people who will be mailing the check and keep following up. Do not delay!

Purchasing an extended warranty is a waste of money, in my opinion. Keep in mind, if the extended warranty was put into your financing, then you are also paying interest on that warranty.

Classic case

Regardless of what the scam dealer told you:

The warranty on a vehicle sold starts on the original "In Service Date"

That term is important. The car can be a demonstrator or driven for the purpose of changing dealerships up to about 6,000 miles or 10,000 KM and still be considered new.

Over that mileage it can happen that dealer does not declare the vehicle as a long term demo and assign an in service date, then the build date is used.

If the car is sold as used and it was properly sold to a customer the warranty started when the original customer signed the purchase paper work.

So as far as Toyota is concerned thats the warranty and warranty date. Legally they are covered.
