I used the turbotax recommended companies for my fees and the company turbotax sent us to for a (free) direct deposit account through netspend... someone noone knows who put the wrong account number on the direct deposit information.

SBBT sent my money to netspend netspend is holding it hostage I have filed a report with the FBI. I fully expect others to be in the same boat and welcome all inquiries about a class action suit for this nonsense.

Turbotax set this up. Turbotax refused to allow me to file until I had entered the account number where I wanted the funds to be deposited. Then SBBT refused to allow me viewing access to the direct deposit information until they had already disbursed funds. They say that isnt true but I can prove it. Now SBBT has supplied a trace number for the original transfer but that is all.

I am left with no recourse as netspend apparently doesnt have to answer the phone... ever. Netspend does have a corporate office in austin texas though. so maybe i should take a ride over there.

I fully realize that I must have entered the wrong account number.  The taxes were filed and a copy saved. Turbotax processed the return to the IRS. The IRS sent the funds to SBBT. SBBT sent my funds with a slew of my personal info to Netspend with an account number off by 1 digit (the 4th from the end). Netspend instead of rejecting the funds as they say they do (based on the name not matching the account number), kept the funds and failed to inform me or attempt to contact me.

SBBT had my account info as of 02/03/14 but when I attempted to open it on the 13th of february for the first and second time I got the red screen of you have no account info so it aint happenin. Right twice. A couple hours later I tried again and it popped up as delivered and dispursed. I scrolled down to the details and it showed the last 4 and the routing number as well as the trace number.

I crosschecked what I could see and immediatley called SBBT about the wrong account number. (mainly because its the page I had open). SBBT told me to call Netspend/Metabank. I did so immediatley and was asked for my account/ssn/address/phone number/expected amount of deposit. I gave this information and  explained what happened.

I was told that the funds had already been sent back to SBBT. I called SBBT back they politely told me that no such transaction occured. Please call Netspend back sir.

I called Netspend back and this time was asked for all the above information as well as for a trace number. I provided this and the gentleman said that yes the funds had been deposited that day but had ALREADY been sent back to SBBT. (and folks he actually laughed when he said this).

I called SBBT again and they were only able to email and snailmail me the trace report letter.. This letter is their proof and also my kiss off notice (in a most polite manner) at the same time. I was told by customer service (SBBT) at this point I should file a report with the relevant authorities.

I have emailed and called and emailed and called.... now I have had to close my account with Netspend due to this. I only opened it for this.

Their customer no service is amazing. I drive a 96 f150 with a 5 speed 6 cylinder... yesterday the tailshaft destroyed itself and dropped the driveshaft onto the road while I was driving. I will have it fixed by 5am or I wont go to work tomorrow.

Sometimes little things happen in your life. Its been eating me alive and Ive watched my wife cry over this. I HATE that so were not going to entertain any more discussion about this and will let the powers that be work.

The CEO of Netspend says hes the champion of the underbanked. Hes d*** right...

Maybe...

The issue started when you entered the incorrect bank account number. So if you are going to sue NetSpend on the basis of either sending money to the wrong account or not release the account information they have (obtained by you who entered the data), then I am sure I will be entertaining by your case because I doubt that any judge would rule for your side (common sense). Even worse, I doubt that there will be any attorney taking your case. If you are going to sue them on the basis of not releasing the money but rather hold the verification process even though you have already provided all the proofs they requested to identify yourself, you may have a ground; however, I am not sure that it would be easy for you.

so you are not a strong reader.. its ok. if you have something meaningful to add please do. otherwise quiet in the peanut gallery please. the account info was transposed by 1 digit. this caused the entire banking system to implode in an irreversible pattern that will eventually swallow us all. re: class action suits YOU need to read up anyone can file those. typically attorneys seek out the parties involved though. good day paranoid??? i have no idea but i would suppose if any of these things happened to you... well im sure you know what you would do. not much.

So how come you did not just enter your banking information?? What is the reason you had to contact the FBI? As for your class action suit nonsense the only person(s) who benefit from a class action suit is the attorneys.

Maybe you should have a CPA do your taxes if you are that paranoid.
