Van Ru Credit Corporation RIPOFF ABUSIVE AND ILLEGAL COLLECTION ACTIVITIES SUED NUMEROUS TIMES BY VICTIMS Des Plaines Illinois

The Department of Education announced on television that all those owing money on student loans can call and work out a payment agreement. When we called, we were told that the account was in collection and contact Van Ru.

After contacting Van Ru, they insisted that a huge amount of money be paid immediately or else they would garnish wages. A tentative agreement was worked out with the final payment on the account to be made on Feb. 28, with the understanding that if there were any balances, the entire amount would be paid on that date, as the exact amounts of monies to be received and the times to be received were uncertain. Long before the due date, we received a barrage of calls and letters, many of them very nasty and threatening.

Furthermore, they contacted personnel at work attacking the integrity of my wife and demanding to speak with her commanding officer, as she is in the military. They were told that they could not call on a government line, yet insisted on calling numerous times, jeapordizing her position. They also called and left nasty messages on the phone... along with numerous hang-ups all in violation of federal credit collection laws.

As a result, we are joining the long list of other victims of this company and will be filing suit within the next day or so in Federal District Court. It will be a very, very, expensive collection for the company that has already lost a number of cases for doing exactly the same thing.
