Vonage Phones often don't work, false advertising, rip-off fees to cancel service Holmdel New Jersey

Vonage would be great if it actually worked. I had Vonage for a year, but more than half the time, it did not work. The quality of the sound is so bad that I often had to call people back with my mobile or Skype account. Also, whenever there is a problem, which happens very often (phone, fax, etc...don't work) you call them and end up with someone in India that you can't understand and who doesn't understand you.

I tried to cancel my service two days ago because for a year I have battled trying to have phones that worked. They charge about $80 if you had not been with them for a year...even though they say no contracts...read the small print? There is not small print, I signed up on the phone...Their ads say no contracts, they lie...they are calling this a verbal commitment ...its not a contract they say

:-) In addition to the $80 charge for being 2 days shy of 1 year, they also charge another $40 (minus a few pennies) for a cancellation fee!!! No contract?? Even thought the phone didn't work they make you pay the cancellation fee. I talked to three different people, just to be told that I would have to write a letter. After the letter went through processing...I was told I would get a hot line number.

In other words...if you sign up for Voyage and it doesn't work, it doesn't matter because they are going to take you for everything you have got! And believe me, I live in the state capitol, so our Internet connections are better than many...so your chances of the phone not working very well are...high!
