Had my oil changed at Walmart on a Saturday for the second time in a few months. On the Sunday my overdrive light came on. I went to Walmart the Sunday evening because the car had problems changing gears. I was reasured that nothing was wrong with my car only the over drive had been touched and I needed to turn it off.
The next day my car was driving worse so I asked the men working at my house to check my car and I stood beside the car when the transmission stick was pulled out with not a drop of transmission fluid in the chamber. I put Transmission fluid in the car and went straight to Walmart , so I harassed the manager finally he agreed that I needed to get it fixed and Walmart would pay the bill.
Walmart picked the repair shop and the insurance company sent an independent inspector who could'nt understand how the transmission was damaged, there were no leaks. The car had to be pulled down and now they refuse to pay and I have to pay the bill. Debbie at the insurance company stated before the transmission was pulled down that Walmart would pay if there were no leaks and they lied.
I plan to Picket Walmarts store on Sunday and see a lawyer. The attitude of the manager of the Auto Department was unprofessional refusing to take the situation seriously until I called the manager of store.

Lakeland Tranmission at Walmart

The Walmart techs were suppose to check my fluids in the car and I am wondering if they drained my transmission fluid thinking it was my oil. When I went to Walmart with my complaint the tech could n't find my transmission stick. The manager admitted they are use to red or white transmission sticks. Nobody could understand why my transmission chamber was empty. I was trying to prevent further damage to my car by putting transmission fluid in my car and driving straight to Walmart. I come from a small island called Bermuda and people trust each other but here Walmart thought I was lying. When they pulled down my car the tranmission area was fine, no leaks so they should have accepted they were at fault. I observed that Walmart has had numberous complaints for a big company. I did check my oil and there was oil in the car. Maybe those unreliable techs could not get to refill the tranmission after making a mistake.

Here's one possibility

Without knowing the specific make and model, it is possible that Walmart's crack team of minimum-wage mechanics drained the transmission instead of the engine. It would be nice to know how much oil was in the engine after the "oil change." If the crankcase was not drained and they added 4 or 5 quarts of oil to it then the dipstick would show that the engine was overfilled.
Stuff happens even in good shops. I once saw an apprentice mechanic drain the crankcase on a rear-engined Renault and then pour five quarts of oil into the gas tank. (The gas filler was located under the deck lid next to the engine.) The engine knocked like crazy and filled the shop with blue-white exhaust. The customer was not present so we filled the engine with oil and drained the gas tank. The car's owner was never aware of what happened.

Do you mean you had your transmission serviced at Walmart?

Having your "oil changed" has nothing to to with the transmission or your overdrive. If you had a transmission service done then you you might have something, is that what you're talking about? What kind of vehicle is it, and what year? I doubt Walmart has any idea of which fluid to use from one car to the other, and uses whatever generic fluids they can buy cheaply. I see quite a few ruined tranmissions that have the wrong fluid in them, they are NOT all the same. I just don't understand why anyone would let a minimum-wage dropout who's automotive experience consists of putting a chrome muffler tip on his car work on a vehicle that costs half as much as a house.
