I am making a complaint about the walmart moneycard.
When you want to use it just for buying stuff paying upfront for a Walmart moneycard they charge a whopping extra of $8 bucks, they don't tell you you have to give out your social security and personal information, then after I bought it I am sure as hell I inputed my social security number accurately and it kept rejecting my social security number claiming it is fake and/or not matches my identity.
THIS CAME FROM MY ACTUAL SOCIAL SECURITY CARD, yet they claimed my information was false.
So I had to call them to activate it and they sit there and want me to send in proof of my identity like I'm a terrorist and all because they refuse to accept my accurate number they claimed required by Federal law.
So they decided to activate my temporary card and they want me to scan my social security card to them without any security or encryption, WTF I will just use up that card and not send that in because I already sent them proof by federal law and now I should no longer be obligated to send more and more of my personal information to some foreigner that could steal my number.
If by law I have to give out my SS# why don't they make it secure and make it where employees can't record or remember numbers so they don't steal my identity.
Wasn't the moneycard suppose to be convenient and secure, it seems like a bother and YOU CAN'T GET A REFUND FOR THE CARD YOU PAY FOR, so it's like they can rip you off and if you can't prove your ID and they refuse to refund you, your lost.

dear brian xxxx:
i saw your report on and against walmart money card, and i do not like what was said about the money card's direct deposit regarding governmental ssi checks. my mom is payee over me and i totally respect walmart's policies.
however, when i see that report that you have placed, all of the edited [-] response to the money card website, is totally disrespectful on my behalf. i too, am a customer. but i am more valued than you'll ever be in any life.
i suggest that you do not make anymore [-] feedback against the good people that love using the moneycard.
thank you for your time, and do not make walmart a contradictor. do not try to even think about taking my favorite store and ruining walmart's reputation, and please refrain from cussing. i makes the store look bad.
kudos...

Another Possibility....

There is another possibility here. They are correct that they must verify your identity according to Federal Law. In order to do this they look at different databases to verify your information. Your SSN may match what is on your SSN card, but may not match the file they are looking at.
What you should do is review your credit report and look how your name is spelled and if there are any other names associated with the same SSN(possible identity theft). If they don't match you need to deal with the Credit Bureaus(which in itself is no fun activity).
The other possibility is that if they read the SSN DB directly the Social Security Administration may have messed up. In this case a call to the SSA may fix this, again not exactly the funnest thing to deal with.
If either of these are your case this problem will come up again with other companies so you will need to eventually get it fixed.

Sdw or swd U r the one that has no clue

The original poster is correct!
the ONLINE activation of those cards DOES infact require a VALID ss number.
You can buy the card without giving your ss number but to register it, a real number is required.

Either you have no idea for what you actually applied, or the person selling you the card didn't have a clue.
Only the Wal-Mart Credit Card itself requires a SS#, and the pin pad, on which is entered, is encrypted and out of the cashiers view.
I've sold tons of the green-dot cards, and they do not require a SS#. They only need a valid street address (no PO Boxes). I don't recommend them, because they are an expensive way to go, but I guess some folks don't have any better choices.
BTW if you have to use a green-dot card, no one wants your identity.
