During a recent purchase of tires I had my property damaged. I purchased a new set of aluminum winter specific wheels and
one of the rims was damaged while the tire was installed on to it.
The summer tires and wheels only needed to be removed from the vehicle and placed in the trunk. One of the wheels was damaged as well. During the service I needed to explain to the tire techs how TPMS functioned. They tried to explain to me my wheels had sensors in them. I explained to them the wheel sensors are a 2008 model year item and not a 2004. They
went on to say if i had a light on the dashboard I has sensors. I know my own vehicle and enough about cars to know there were no sensors. After about 15 minutes of arguing with the tech they mounted and installed the tires. The tech also forgot to return my wheel lock key to me that night. I spoke with the store manager Andy who was going to overnight my
key to me. I had the tires installed on Nov 26 and it took until Dec 3rd for the key to arrive at my home. It was shipped because the store is around an hour's drive for me.
I have been patiently working with the insurance company to come to an agreement on the replacement/ repair of
the damaged wheels and was told the damage is consistent with the vehicle's age. The summer wheels are all in perfect condition without curb marks or scratches because they are not the wheels that came on the vehicle. If the insurance person (Lisa at TMIW insurance) knew anything about aluminum auto wheels she would be able to tell the difference between a fresh scratch and 'something comparable with the vehicles age' I tried to explain what corrosion was but I really don't think she would ever understand. Next problem - the snow wheels were new - yet I was told again the wear is consistent with the age
of the vehicle. The 'wear' is cut marks along the circumference of the wheel from the tire installation equipment. The insurance company clearly does not have capable employees that care or can understand people purchase new items and put them on a used vehicle. I can't be the first person that had new wheels that winter tires were installed on. This has been the WORST tire purchasing experience I have ever had. When friends and coworkers ask me about the snow tires I explain what happened and I am consistently told - "Why didn't you go to a real tire store?" I find myself asking the same question...
I can assure you this - I will not be returning to a walmart for any products or services.
I know other people looking for snow tires and so far my experience has steered them to town fair tire and firestone.
I am currently building a webpage simply titled "walmart tire review" it is simple enough so many people will be able to find it and learn from my mistake.

"Bogus" damage?

I guess you missed the part about 'new' winter wheels. New wheels do not come pre-scratched from the manufacturer. This is a completely valid complaint. I know I am not the first person this has happened to. People need to come forward and let others know when there are issues with a service provided by any company. This is about walmart doing the right thing.

Really? That little bogus "damage". Any shop in the country would laugh you out of the building over that. Do you think wheels stay "new" forever.....@ss.
