Wayne County Friend Of The Court over payments mistreatment ripoff Detroit Michigan
*Consumer Suggestion: Support Amount went up
At the time of the divorce my husband was ordered to pay $137.00 per week to the friend of the court for one child. When the order got to his work it was for $160.75.
When he reported this to friend of the court they did nothing. When he was laid off two years later and was hauled into court for not paying, when he had no job, he told the court that they had been over charging him since the begining they upped his amount to $160.75 to cover their mistake.

Support Amount went up

When you first get a court order for support, the court order is dated the date the jusge signed the order. Teh FOC doesn't enter until after the court order date, sometimes it can take up to 2 months before for the order is entered.
Once it entered, it goes retro-active to the date signed by the judge. This casues an arrearage( past due support) on the account. Then when the notice goes out saying whats should be sent to the FOC, it will contain the amount of the order plus and amount for the past due support. This is why the amount is higher than the court ordered amount.
