I worked for werner in 2006, This was the worst experiance I ever had. My first trainer was a female, she would go to the bathroom in the truck in a garbage can then tie the bag up and put it on the floor. Sometimes she would have 4 or 5 bags of urine in the truck. I called and said I wanted off this truck but they said I had to wait till our load was delivered.

When I was told that I waited till she went to sleep then drove myself out of route and went to the terminal. Then I had a guy trainer and he never taught me how to do anything, He would go home every weekend and I would have to stay in a motel. I missed christmas and new years with my family. I was with a trainer for 2 months until I finally got done. After that I got my truck which was junk and my first load. They said to follow the directions they sent me. I did and it took me 5 hours to go 50 miles. I really think they were messing with me cause I was new. Well they did fire me cause I sent in to get payment for a lumper to unload my truck and they said I wasnt suppose to do that. They approved it and everything but said I was stealing there money and I knew what I was doing. I still dont understand what it was I did wrong but getting fired from this company was the best thing that happed to me. I now work for a good company and get payed good and have a nice truck with my name on it. I dont think anyone should work for this company. They would hire anyone even if they dont know how to drive these trucks. there just a really bad company. I could go on and on about things that happened to me with this company. Just stay away from them

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Werner doesn't like to keep good trainers

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 12, 2008

I was one of the good trainers, until a student demolished my truck while I was sleeping. I went through students that couldn't drive, students that were rude and obnoxious, but this student at least had some potential and was almost finished with his training. After the accident, I was placed on "medical leave" by Werner and after I was cleared to work again by my Dr. I was told by Werner that I was not authorized to be on any sort of leave and instead of firing me, they said I had chosen to self-terminate my employment by taking inapporpriate leave. It's my understanding that even though I am good at my job, once an incident happens, they clear you out of there so you can not influence others to not be trainers. I, of course, was not planning on training anymore but was irritated that this course of events happened. I also had a very poor training experience and tried my hardest to not make training as hard on my student drivers as my trainer had made it for me (he left me stranded at a truck stop in Iowa for 4 days while he visited his mistress) and I did not get to go home once during my entire training. It would seem that as long as they can recruit new people in, they don't have to waste time keeping good employees long term. Worked out for the best though, I now get paid more to work locally.
