I went to a time share demo and bought nothing.
They referred me to another guy named Tony who sold me a package of 3 mini vacations.
The following day I decided it was not for me. So, according to Mexico and US law, I called and e-mailed to cancel.

My phone calls were ignored. I called back 4 times until I reached Mercedes, the alleged "aunt" of the President of Mexico. She said they had received my messages and Tony was advised to cancel the contract. That it was taken care of.

Guess what? NOT! They charged my credit card $598.50 and plan to charge it 6 more times for over $200.00 a month for the next six months.

I e-mailed again... and got a response from a guy who asked me to call him so that he could discuss my membership and what ways he could help me to understand the benefits. I do not have a membership... I cancelled it LAWFULLY the day after I signed the papers!

These people ruined my vacation with phone calls, e-mails, a trip to Prefico and now, even when in my own home, they continue to scam me by charging my credit card?

BEWARE of the WESTIN, of CLUB REGINA, of RAINTREE ANYTHING! They will take your money and laugh in your face.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: margaretsims90 - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 18, 2015

The best advice is NEVER buying a timeshare anywhere. It is a scam and the so-called timeshare you buy is sold over and over again to other people. It is very difficult to sell your timeshare now and renting isn't in the deal. It will cost you more to buy a timeshare and maintenance fee than to rent a hotel room or a full ownership of a condo. Don't do it. There is good information about timeshare scams: http://www.timesharescam.com/timeshare-complaints-resorts-black-list/4-pueblo-bonito-timeshare-complaints/

Raintree Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: BetzabethT - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 13, 2013

I am one of the many Raintree timeshare owners who have seen maintenance fees nearly double since purchase. We then have the unpleasant surprise of an unexpected 'special assessment fee'. It did not make me feel special, nor did I feel like it could possibly be legal. I would love to get out of this time share & recoup some of my investment. For the yearly maintenance fee that I pay, I could easily book a similar vacation when I want, where I want.

PROFECO COMPLAINT

AUTHOR: Lapaz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 28, 2009

The United States of Mexico allows for a 5 day buyers remorse on timeshare sales. If the huckster has not honored your request, file a complaint with PROFECO and the are usually quite successful in getting the charges reversed. You can do this while in the U.S. or other countries by using Google to locate PROFECO and their complaint form. They are a very professional and competent agency and they attorneys who understand English and other languages. Good Luck!
