I recently noticed several monthly $9.95 charges against my Checkcard. Having view this site and the numerous complaints against the company, I notified my band via the 1-800 customer service number provided.

When a bank service rep came on the line, I very politely stated that I believe fraudulent and unauthorized charges had been made against my checkcard. I told her about the numerous complaints against this company, this website for verification and requested that they contact the company while I was on the phone.

We had a 3-way phone conversation between the WPI Ifriend rep, the bank and I. I found out that this is a chat line service similar in nature to IM's of MSN, Yahoo and AOL. I recall the name vaguely but never recalled giving out my financial information. The Ifriend service rep was able to verify my zip code and the last 3 digits of my bank card security code. This is something they wouldn't had known otherwise. The rep did not deny the ripoffreport.com website and its numerous complaints against his company.

The service rep "cancelled" my service, refunded the last month (out of 3) charge of $9.95 and provided me with a cancellation number for my record. I thank all parties for their assistance and now writing to tell of my experience.

It still bothers me that I had somehow innocently signed up for a service giving my cc information. That's is so unlike me but the fact that I vaguely remember the chat site and the fact they my card security card was disclosed means that perhaps I was way to careless or that the service mispresented itself enough for me to give out financial information.

Remain calm but factual. Remember that the REP is a working person trying to make a living that knows nothing about your situation. No not attempt without having a bank rep on the line with you to assist and act as a witness.
