www.reservations.com Useless Charges Added By Stealth Internet

Just as others have reported, I was charged by stealth as follows: I was looking to book a hotel in a hurry and clicked on a link that looked just like the site I had used to book directly with the hotel previously. When the charges appeared and the hotel tax was $33 and change, I thought "Hmm, that seems high" but as there was nothing to be done about it, I was expensing it anyway, and I needed the room, I submitted my order. The first strangeness was that I never received an email confirmation. The second was that when I tried to get my bill for reimbursement upon checking out, the hotel informed me that I had booked through Expedia, when there had been nothing to indicate that I was using Expedia while making the reservation. This created an additional problem because I then had to track down my bill, and when I called Expedia to get it, the charge was about $15.00 less than the amount that had displayed when I submitted. So I checked the credit card I had used to discover that there was a separate $14.99 charge from "www.reservations.com," no phone number to call, no explanation of the charge. This is a ripoff of the first order.
