Complaint Review: XBIDS - Internet
XBIDS I bought bids (around $300) won 3 auctions (value $1000). Received only a $25 Wal Mart gift card. Web site dead now. Internet
*Consumer Comment: Nice Rebuttal
*REBUTTAL Owner of company: xbids is not a scam
*Consumer Comment: Yes..they did scam CNN..
Became involved with xbids after I saw a CNN report. I hate to think how much money I spent and I contacted the company twice asking where my products were at and was told Christmas had slowed everything down but I would have my merchandise by 12/24/10.
Now the web site is dead and I do not have the promised items. I think Xbids scammed everyone including CNN.

...these penny auctions use a fake advertisement that was produced to look like a legit news report..just like the site is supposed to be a legit auction..but it is a gambling website. The only relation CNN probably had..is where you saw the fake news report they had a logo on the web page. Do you recall seeing any CNN reporters or logos in the "report"? Probably not, since the whole thing is a fraud and deception to lure in more suckers. I don't think CNN would promote a site like that.
They took the money and ran..as other penny auctions have have done, and others will continue to do. There is no way any gambling site can last too long if they do not clearly explain to the prospective players that it is gambling, and they use deceptive means to sign up more players...such as bogus news reports and not using a confirmation page for submitting charges..and not explaining the site is for gambling and entertainment purposes more so then a good alternative to paying retail.
I hope you get the products but it is not looking good.
