Below is a letter I sent to Yelp after posting a review only to have it removed or as Yelp calls it "filtered." I guess honest reviews are not wanted or appreciated on Yelp! I think Yelp has forgotten their purpose, "To connect people with great local businesses."

Yelp was founded in 2004 to help people find great local businesses like dentists, hair stylists and mechanics.

Yelp had an average of approximately 108 million monthly unique visitors in Q2 2013.

Yelpers have written over 42 million local reviews.

In addition to reviews, you can use Yelp to find events, lists and to talk with other Yelpers.

Every business owner (or manager) can setup a free account to post photos and message her customers.

Yelp makes money by selling ads to local businesses - you'll see these clearly labeled "Yelp Ads" around the site.

Paying advertisers can never change or re-order their reviews. NOT TRUE!!!!!

Yelp has an automated filter that suppresses a small portion of reviews - it targets those suspicious ones you see on other sites.

Why is Yelp pandering to "Big Business?" I wrote a truthful review of an experience I had recently at our local Verizon Store and it was moved into the filtered section within hours of a Verizon rep. contacting me. What good is Yelp if they are going to take the side of the business and remove our post? I think I will post an online review of Yelp and I certainly will not trust or use Yelp as a tool to decide whether a business is good or bad! Didn't realize Yelp could be coerced into altering a businesses rating!
