MAITA Toyota Service Department Daughter was taken advantage of and charged for unnecessary service items Sacramento CA
*Consumer Comment: Teach her the value of making sure she gets the estimate in writing in order to approve the service
*Consumer Comment: What A Surprise! You Can Forget The BBB and Their BS!
Daughter went in for a tire rotation and oil change, and services were performed without her consent or pricing strucuture. The bill came it at $525, which was a shocker to her. She waited at the dealership for 3 hours and no one gave her an update or the final cost for the service. We are lodging a complaint with the better business bureau and Toyota motor corporation.

Teach her the value of making sure she gets the estimate in writing in order to approve the service

No matter where your daughter goes to get her auto repair or maintenance, she needs to check off the portion on the estimate that a written estimate is required BEFORE any work is done.
I happen to agree with the prior poster that the worst place to get the work completed, other than warranty work, is an auto dealership. It costs much more and they will always find something 'extra' to repair. Do find a good independant mechanic. In either event, the front office will present an estimate sheet - first without figures - and then when you request an estimate, make sure you check the box that says written estimate.
This way she has a choice at the time the written estimate is provided: accept it, negotiate it or the scope of repairs or walk away to find someone else. Too often the expectation is that you will accept their verbal estimate. Don't do that. That's how a $100 repair becomes a $500 repair.

What A Surprise! You Can Forget The BBB and Their BS!

When you take your car to a dealer for non-warranty service, you open the door for price gouging and all other types of FRAUD and DECEPTION and that's a FACT! Here's a lesson...never, ever go to a dealer for non-warranty service. The WELL KNOWN fraud and deception which goes on in sales, also goes on in service!
Find and use a good independent shop! You can forget the BBB! The BBB is NOT part of ANY government or law enforcement body. The BBB is NOT the business police and the BBB has ZERO POWER to do anything and that is also a FACT!
The ONLY purpose of the BBB and their PHONY BS is to SELL their equally PHONY fake accreditations and fake ratings to ANY business which wants to BUY them! The BBB does not care about you and it is a guarantee they cannot do anything and will not do anything!
