I have no idea why this company has run a hard inquiry into my credit report. The only reason I know this is because I have a credit monitoring service. I know for a fact that I do not have any legal collections out there. My crdit score is in the mid 700s. Thanks.

If you subscribe to TU's monitoring service (and they are the worst), just keep after them to provide you with a copy where you authorized the inquiry and remind them that they may also be held liable for damages as well as the entity placing the inquiry if it is found to be illegal.

Don't bother contacting the entity that placed the HI. Don't take the chance of initiating contact that could result in a minimum of harassing phone calls up to a maximum of reinstating any potential debt.
