I was shipped a computer that had obviously failed final test. They charge shipping and re-stocking fees to return it.

For a "new" "retail" purchase? Really?

* How did it "obviously" fail final testing before shipout?
>> OK, I'll admit that missing pieces and a red sticker are not "obvious". Sorry.
* Exactly what went wrong with the computer? (Be as specific as possible, please.)
>> I have been unable to power it up.
* Was the damage covered by warranty? (Hardware is typically the only thing covered; software usually isn't covered.)
>> Manufacturer states that warranty registration was already filed (by someone else).
* Most companies charge S&H if it has to be shipped back for repair. It's not a ripoff so much as it is an industry standard.
>> For new retail merchandise? I should not be paying a nickle more until it works the 1st time.
