DO NOT GET SERVICE at Berts, I took my quad there for complete service and valve adjustment, $550, first time out the motor blew apart, totally destroyed. The shop I took it to said both spark plugs were loose and it got it so hot the piston seized which took out the rod and crank.. I took it back to Berts they had the service manager, Sean (who knows nothing
about customer service) tell me that the rod pin busted (he said very common in Yamaha)(why would I ever buy another?) and for me to pound sand they were taking no responsibility. These people are crooks and thieves. STAY AWAY FROM BERTS, there is a reason they have such a bad reputation, they deserve it.

If you can prove it, take them to court

If the 2nd shop will back you up and the timeline of events supports your story, take the bums to court. Civil suits do not require guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. All that's needed is to prove it was "more than likely" that they did the damage. More likely than not. and if the engine blew immediately after leaving them then I'd say you got a case.

Not an Isolated Incident

AUTHOR: Leroy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 07, 2011

No surprise and I really feel for you. Same thing happened to me. Chain slipped on my motorcycle and took out the front sprocket and seal, oil tube and misc. parts after I had a previous bike check-up there less than 3 months before the slip. Purchased the Kawasaki good times plan when I bought the bike thinking I was covered but like you, they told me to go pound sand. Warranty is only good on defects? Not what I was told when I bought the bike. So I was out $800 for the Good Time Plan and $600 dollars for repair. If you really need to have anything repaired, try Corona Motorsports or Cycle Service Center in Chino. There are a few good places in LA as well. Had a quote for a tune-up from Bert's that was astronomical. Took it to Corona and they beat it by half. My bike runs great. Showed them the parts list and repair from the above incident and they stated I was overcharged by several hundred dollars. Bert's used to be about bikes and the riders. Now they have a huge overhead because of the new showroom, coffee bar, lounge area and remodeling they did. How do you think they are going to pay for this? Bert's does has a nice selection but they are way overpriced on most items. If you want to look at bikes, accessories and such, go there first and ignore the salesmen. Find what you like and go somewhere else to buy it.
