Received a letter July 15,2003 stating I owe Norwest Card Service $3,871.64 from Jan 1989. Wells Fargo Card Services merged with Norwest approx 10yrs ago, there is no longer a company named Norwest (I called Wells Fargo) They looked up my Social Security # back to 1980 and couldn't find anything.

I called Camco back and spoke to the "manager" Leon Thomas, very arrogant man. He, of course, could not provide me with any documentation for this debt, but assured me if I did not pay by July 21, he would report to all 3 credit agencies and proceed with legal action against me. I told him to "be my guest".

#4 Consumer Suggestion

It would be great if they put it back on your credit report

REaging tradelines is one of the biggest fcra violations and one of the most easiest to prove since it creates a nice little papertrail. you can sue them and win in a hearbeat. That being said, make sure you visit the ftc site at ftc.gov and file a complaint citing his threats on your credit report. Also file a complaint with your attorney general and the AG of illinois. they are up to 181 illinois AG complaints and growing.
