To answer your question, the score they came up with is a FICO score; the score is mathematical number based on your credit history, and can range between 300-850; no one can be above an 850 score.  The score comes from the Fair Isaac Corporation (hence FICO).  The company had to spend money to buy the score; they can't get the score from the credit bureau.  Yeah, it's a lot to go through sometimes.
