I have been receiving magazines in the mail for a little now having not ordered I tried to figure where they came from. I have never been able to find the source of them. Starting in February 2016, I started getting unrecognized numbers calling me frequently for a couple of weeks. When answered they would either hang up or wouldn't leave a detailed message regarding the phone call. Then in March 2016 I received a letter stating that I owe central billing and readers discount center $982.95 and that I was in collections for non-payment. Well of course there was no payment I never signed up for the magazines. I felt my heart sink knowing I had used all my money paying off all my other debts and being scared of bad credit considered paying in full. However, when I call after their stated opening hours they did not answer I decided to look them up. I have not found much information, other than a report on here of the same thing happening to someone else. I now know this is a scam to scare people into paying for something they absolutely never ordered in the first place. Not only did I not order magazines, they were all magazines I would not have even bought from the store. I would also like to state that I had received no other forms of contact in regards to payments from the actual company itself.

POSTED: Wednesday, March 16, 2016

As the original author of first post, I have a correction to make since I can not change my original post. I do not know for sure that this is a scam to scare people into paying for things never ordered. I do have concerns that in my anger I wrote things I should not have. I again do not know for sure its a scam. I can only speak for myself that I did not order the magazines and that I am in the process of disputing the charges. I do however feel that I am in the same boat as others around the country receiving magazines never ordered or gave permission to send and now being sent to collections. This is a very scary situation for being considering that I am about to head into major surgery for a rare disease that I have and have no way of paying for anything. AGAIN I do not know for sure this is a scam.
