We are asked to do drywall finishing for a home owner at 401 arrowhead drive in lino lakes mn Josh The owner of century drywall and paint asked us to not walk off the job it was a poor hanging job I responded to josh and said I would do the work if i was to be paid well and on completion. its been 7 weeks and still have not received 1 dime. I have charged materials on my sherwin williams account had 2 helpers that have not been paid we where told the ceiling would be a knock down texture then that changed to orange peel texture after the fact there was still sheet rock to be put up on the last day. the whole job was very unorganized very unprofesinal on century drywalls part. no comumniction at all and no pay. it turned out that josh was going deer hunting for 4 weeks and looking for a fall guy on this job. I have done drywall work since 1979 i do know what i am doing and should of walked off the job the 1st day but i am a man of my word and Did complete the job And have not ben paid to this day. This guy is like a school kid texting me 6 weeks later saying I have been trying to get ahold of you to pay you He has my address phone number ect...  We pulled up to the job 1 day and his number one man was rolling a joint in the car with his pj's on my question would be is this how you make money now days Hireing someone to do the work and then just dont pay them ?  This company should not be allowed to operate. I did look them up on the BBB web site after the fact and they are a D- I should of looked them up before taking the job .My fault for trusting someone and being a man of my word. Take my advise and do not do  work for josh Marchand AKA century Drywall and paint. They dont pay and are not a good company

These are not professional drywall subcontracors

We hired what we thought was a competent subcontractor to do a kitchen/ dining room tape job and to skim coat some ceilings and change the texture on the existing ceiling.   On a difficulty level, this job would be rated at about 4 out of 10.  It was a very typical remodeling project.  What we got was one qualified person and two helpers that weren’t professional.  This was stated to us by the homeowner after day two of the project after some observation.

While the project did in fact need some repair to the screws that the homeowner used to install the sheetrock, this was in no way a deterrent to getting the project finished in a timely matter.   The original timeline was agreed to be at about 5-7 days.  Due to some hunting trips, half days, and no shows, this project stretched to three weeks.  The customer then brought to our attention that there was a lot of inappropriate language,  overall uncleanliness  and insubordination by the subcontractors on the job.  They tried to bury waste in an existing wall cavity and were not disposing of their chewing tobacco properly.

Besides complaints about cleanliness and insubordination from the homeowner about the above named subcontractors, the real problems with the project lie in the fact that this project was never completed.  The work done by the subcontractors to this point was unsatisfactory to our customer and to us.

Upon completing the finish taping and texture spraying of the kitchen, the homeowner had several legitimate complaints about quality.  The ceiling was not sanded properly before the new texture was sprayed and the vault line was ruined.  There were also many imperfections on the walls that the homeowner complained about.

When we showed up to go over the finished project with the homeowner, he stated he did not want the subcontractors to return, as he felt they were incompetent due to the fact that the job looked extremely unsatisfactory.  We lobbied the homeowner to allow the above subcontractors to return and repair their work.  We scheduled a time for the subs to come back but they did not show. This angered the homeowner to a great degree and we were forced to hire another subcontracting crew to come in and repair and finish the project.

The original subcontractors were told that they would be notified when the project was repaired and would be sent all invoicing needed to achieve a suitable product.  When all invoicing was sent to original subcontractors, they were angered.  They were given chances to repair their faulty work and chose not to use those chances.  Any disputed issues can be taken up with the homeowner and he’ll reiterate the fact that the quality of the job done by the original subcontractors was terrible and they did nothing to repair it.

Century Drywall is in business to make customers happy, retain repeat customers, and turn a profit by doing so.  Due to the overall unsatisfactory work done by the original subcontractors on this project, Century Drywall lost money and a valued customer, which left us no chance at getting referral work.
